Fun times ahead for Xbox One

Just before E3 2019 last week, something amazing occurred in the Xbox One scene finally!
XB1_SystemOS.jpg

During E3 2019, Microsoft announced a new Xbox console is coming, and around the same time, underground scene developers also leaked out anonymous they have a new exploit that allows end-users to gain access to the normally protected SystemOS area of the current Xbox One consoles, this is basically an more advanced version of what was release last year that gained previously win32 code execution in UWP devmode, with this new update to original exploit, now you can break out of UWP sandbox and gain proper access to 'SystemOS' on the Xbox One console.

Enjoy having fun! :)

Do we know its a emulator?
it has to be for at least the xbox 360, since the 360 didn't even run an x86 CPU, the OG xbox might be just some sort of a compatability layer of some sort, i doubt they completely rewrote all of the games just to run on an xbox one

You're the one complaining about buying an Xbox One move alone snowflake nobody cares.

No, I didn't complain about buying an Xbox. I gave an opinion that if a person already owns a PC, buying an XB1 for the main purpose of pirating is basically pointless. You're the one making hypocritical comments about don't comment if you don't like other peoples opinions. And snowflake? How original.

If you're interested, have a look at how it's actually achieved - Digital Foundry etc are a good place to start. Needless to say it's not purely emulation, that would have course been impossible, nor is it a rewrite of code (there is a tiny bit though, on a per game basis)
But yeah, while we'll get the usual dears coming out with the 'no gamez' malarkey, 360 and OG games are a different kettle of fish altogether, and with many of them benefiting from upgrades, especially ie 4K on One X....

...Not that we're that much closer with this news anyway of course! Still, baby steps and all that..

If so that could benefit the development of a PC 360 Emulator. Im sure MS has caught on by now and they are hard at work to fix it.

About time, this generation of consoles has been boring af for hacks/cfw, nothing like the good old 360 & PS3 days. Hopefully we can run backups and play online without getting banned

Nah, I hope you can but are banned. The ban evasion on 360 were so bad when hackers were rampant. Don't need that anymore.

Very interesting to see such a thing gets released at the end cycle of the system. This will help selling whatever left in shelves. M$ will benefit of getting rid of these units way more than the end user.

It would mainly be just a recompile, although it could potentially also be a static recompilation. If a game can run without downloading then it's probably an emulator.

Not entirely, if they are caught using code from the xbox's emulator, they could get a lawsuit as it isn't opensource. Now, looking at the code and getting inspiration from it could instill progress but it could end up being incompatible with what they already have causing them to rewrite things completely.

Its funny how so many here quickly came to say they are going to run "backups" finally on the console. Maybe I don't come onto this site enough but usually people are lowkey about pirating here cause we are supposed to have a moral code to support the developers. It makes the argument of legal backups invalid when people argue for it. Not that I care though, I personally think that this could make the xbox one the next great cheap emulation box. The switch could of been it but its just too under powered.

You do know switch is emulating systems like Dreamcast, N64, PS1 and PSP? and everything older than that? Also Gamecube/Wii through Linux and Lakka? Wii needs a lot of work but there's not a lot of systems you can't emulate on Switch already and it's only two years old unless you mean PS2 and even that it is in the work. So I don't know what you're talking about really.

Not to mention it can do something XB1 can't do, be portable. Switch can emulate more systems than any other console ever. Switch is a great emulation system.

The switch is great for emulating and it is portable but there is so much more that can be done on an Xbox. The switch has poor speeds with most games on dolphin and even the Nvidia shield can't get full speed on all games. Even if dolphin works perfectly on the switch, console emulation stops there. The Xbox however can run Xbox and Xbox 360 games. In the long term, I see the Xbox one being a better investment for emulation. I'm not trying to bash on the switch, I love it and use it. The Xbox one just has more potential (I don't even have a Xbox, I have a PS4). As I see it, the Nvidia shield tv is a better deal if you want to emulate than the switch as it's way cheaper and capable rn.

There's no guarantee any Xbox One hacks will lead to 360/original Xbox full support. It may, or may not. If you want 360/Xbox get a 360 with RGH.

You're just thinking about Raw power of course Xbox One is more powerful. But that alone does not automatically mean every emulator under the sun of going to work for it out of the box. Devs have to put the work in to make that happen. There's no guarantee it would have Dolphin running full speed for example. You're making a lot of assumptions. Meanwhile there's very few systems Switch doesn't have emulated right now and there could be more it's only 2.

I guess we'll have to wait to see then. The Xbox one can already run retroarch and ppsspp without any hacking of the console. Does it matter if all Xbox games will be compatible, it has more than the switch can do. I truly hope the switch can emulate with dolphin perfectly but I just think the xbox has a more realistic chance.

I've thought about Dolphin emulation on the Xbox One and how cool that would be. It really comes down to which person you are talking to. Some are very against piracy and some do it every day. There are strong arguments for both sides. Just because someone likes to pirate games doesn't mean that they don't know its bad. Everyone has their reasons.
