To celebrate the release of Sonic Mania, GBAtemp is giving away 2 copies of the game on your platform of choice as a digital code.

The rules are quite simple, we will be selecting 1 random viewer of the stream as a winner, and alternatively another copy will be available via this thread if you can't watch the stream. All you have to do is post in this thread and let us know what is your favourite Sonic level (from any Sonic game) and why (a sentence or two minimum). The 2nd winner will be randomly selected from the thread in 48 hours from the time of this post.

Good luck to all those who enter!

Tropical Resort Act 1 from Sonic Colors as well. I seriously enjoyed that game. because after the bad taste those other Sonic games for the Wii left in my mouth, it sure as hell was cleansed with that game. Like sonic and the secret rings. God.

The first level in the Marble Zone (original game). Simply because I adore the music in it and the atmosphere it creates. Plus, it's pretty decent looking.

Thanks for the chance. Peace.

My favorite has always been Hidden Palace from Sonic 2. Yes, the removed one... I liked how it looked in the previews, and always wondered what it would look like on a TV. Thankfully, emulation and the discovery of the 'Simon Wai' beta was just in time for it to be visible on CRTs in the home.

Casino Night from Sonic The Hedgehog 2 also is my favorite level. I've spent a lot time playing those slot machine simulator. All I wanted to do was to get the maximum score before the time ends. Kinda a challenge for me. Good times.

I don't think being the first really matters, it is YOUR favorite level, not "The first to say a level wins".
I know. Just, why are lots of people choosing City Escape? I get that it's a good level, but damn...

On Sonic 2 I loved Aquatic Ruins Zone Act 1 because it was a challenge (being underwater and whatnot) and when it comes to Sonic games I love challenges! :)

I don't really know if it counts as a level, but for me it's Sonic Adventure last boss. It's the first time I actually paid attention to the music in a video game, and the song from that level is still one of my favorite songs (Open your heart, from Crush 40)

My favorite sonic level is Adventure Speed Highway from Sonic Adventure. I love that you can run across buildings, take a helicopter ride, and hop onto a rocket all in one level. And nothing has ever come close to the feeling you have when the glass breaks beneath you, and you're sent running down the side of a skyskraper, dodging helicopter propellers and support beams, only to fall through more glass and end up in a hotel lobby.

And the music that plays when you're in the city below is on point.

When you can't roll around at the speed of sound, and you can't feel the sunshine, there's

or the ever-incomprehensible

I liked classic Rooftop Run; it made me feel as if SEGA gave a damn.

(For the dark feeling, I once left the SA: DX sound test playing for about for hours between and )

Can't wait to play this game!
My favorite level is Hydrocity Zone from Sonic 3. Everyone hates water based levels, but I think this one is pretty good, might be the best one. I like it mainly for the music, the Act 2 music rocks really hard!
I hope it gets included in Mania! I still don't know all the zones yet, I'm trying to avoid spoilers as much as I can.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
