‘Ghost of Tsushima’ movie in the works with ‘John Wick’s Chad Stahelski as director

Sucker Punch Productions' acclaimed title Ghost of Tsushima will be getting a movie adaptation. The news come from an exclusive Deadline report which was followed by a PlayStation Blog post by Nate Fox, Game Director at Sucker Punch Productions. Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick franchise, has been attached to direct the adaptation while 87Eleven Entertainment will be producing it.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment, to bring their vision of Jin’s story to the big screen. We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences.” said Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions.

As for the cast, release window and whether it will be a live-action or animated adaptation, these details were not announced.

I presume if it is feudal Japan era they might make an effort towards that end, though it is Hollywood so who knows.
That said would it especially matter? Good acting is good acting.

It matters in certain cases, like authenticity or realism for example.
