GilvaSunner controversy, Gary Bowser's upcoming sentence, and more! - Tempcast #74

tempcast 169 logo.png

This week, Stephen and Alanjohn discuss two popular news stories about Nintendo taking legal action against people on the internet. First, popular Youtuber GilvaSunner, who uploaded video game soundtracks, had his channel taken down by Nintendo; then, we discuss the upcoming sentencing for Team Xecuter's Gary Bowser. Finally, we touch on a few smaller stories from this week, such as Grand Theft Auto VI's announcement, the release of the Resident Evil 4 HD modpack, and the Nintendo Switch officially outselling the Wii.

By the way: the parody GilvaSunner account isn't SilvaGunner, it's SiIvaGunner. (not SILVA, it is siiva, with one capital i instead of lowercase L, just to be clear).

This is probably one of the main ones you need to hear, the PAL rip of Super Mario World's Athletic Theme. :D This is what we got over here in Europe (And Australia):

I hereby call on the government of Canada to extradite and prosecute Nancy Pelosi for her crimes.

It is truly unfortunate that save managers are now illegal, but I suppose it is necessary to deter future criminal activity. I hope it really sends a message to those Nintendo-defying criminals.

Honesty YouTube channels get taken down all the time, is like saying the sky is blue.
nintendo didnt even take down the account, the account owner itself did. nintendo blocked their soundtracks on that channel, they didnt hand out copyright strikes. and as you already said it happens all the time anyway, its not a "controversy"

I thought it was accepted fact that nitnendo didn't actually issue the copyright claims, but instead an imposter account did. The copyright holder was "Nintendo" when the actual company always goes by "Nintendo of America" etc., never "Nintendo" alone.

Oh, thank God. This whole situation was gonna suck even more if it wasn't actually Nintendo in the first place.

Assuming of course that that really is YouTube's twitter. I've never seem it go by that name before and many commenters aren't convinced either.

Oh AlanJohn, never stop bickering and complaining about things that you do care about.:)

Boiling piss and vinegar all around for Rockstar, Take-Two, the US congress and their injustice system.:rofl2:

Also I didn't know about SiIvaGunner. Amusing stuff! I just heard the take on the DK64 Rap... pure gold.

Not necessarily. It's most likely all of them were manual takedowns.
And that's exactly what makes it so creepy...

(edit: did I seriously write 2K instead of Take-Two? oh, embarrassing...)
