GTAForums user teapotuberhacker has seemingly leaked footage from an early build of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto VI overnight. The alleged leak contains some 52 minutes of playtime over 90 distinct videos. Many clips feature a female lead, which seems to corroborate Bloomberg's July report that the next GTA game will feature a female protagonist. Many shots also feature a landscape that appears reminiscent of Miami, in an apparent callback to Rockstar's 2002 installment, VIce City. However, the setting appears to be in a different town altogether, as in-game signs and police cars bear the name "Port Gelhorn".

The clips jump between active in game playable scenarios, and basic development testing. Physics engine vectors and object names appear throughout the videos, and many NPCs appear less detailed and unpolished compared to the player character. It's unclear when these videos are alleged to have been initially produced. Early work on GTA VI began in 2014, but full scale development likely only began in earnest after the release of Red Dead Redemption II in 2018. If this leak represents recent development footage, the game is likely at least a few years from release.

The leaker joined GTAForums today, and also claims to have in his possession source code and assets from GTA V and GTA VI. He posted several screenshots of the supposed code on that forum, and hinted he may have plans to dump that as well. Only time will tell whether this constitutes actual development footage, but if fake, this would likely constitute hundreds of hours of work to create such convincing forgery.

According to these leaks, latest video is from 2021 and the graphics still needs lot of improvement to be a "major change" from GTAV.
So my guess is that we wouldn't have any gameplay trailer before 2025
And I said "wouldn't" because due to the leak, they might have to start all over again so that their game isn't too easy to crack/copy

I'm no expert, but re the graphics side when I look at how gargantuan these productions get it makes sense to me if the gameplay team was using GTA5 tech while the graphics/art team slaved away on their end. More than likely GTA6 will start to look like a GTA6 scarily close to release - and given the timelines we're talking about here scarily close is like a year away. Probably also the reason why these things get scaled back down while the PR dept enjoys their maybe accidental bullshots.

I don't even want to think about how to manage a project such as this, and a leak won't help.

Though CDP might want to ruminate on that once they pull their heads out of their asses (jab courtesy of a recent playthrough attempt).

It's a real shame that the game still has to run on the old last gen consoles. I wouldn't expect a huge graphic leap if they need to run on the first gen PS4, even if the game is still at least 2-3 years away.

There are other alternative video sites out there which don't appear easily/are not indexed by many searches.

If it is an older video you might try the various old youtube competitors. dailymotion, vimeo and such like. Whether it will house this is up for debate.

Depending upon the video Facebook are notoriously lax on taking things down, but here I imagine less so.
Video sites outside the English speaking world can be a good bet.
The big three places you will generally find such things are Russia (OK.ru, https://vk.com/search?c[per_page]=40&c[q]=GTA&c[section]=video&c[sort]=2 and other such things, China (rarer for game related stuff owning to games holding a dubious position within China) and Japan ( https://www.nicovideo.jp/ being the big one)

Those usually style themselves as less censor happy so you might find something there. Pornography sites also make a bit of a sideline in hosting things various mainstream internet video hosts (at least prior to the rise of the sites noted above) -- most advertisers already hate them and various morality types already get their knickers in a knot about them so they don't have to worry about that.

Internet archive also hosts a fair bit of stuff these days.

Equally if it is something that is going to be troubled then as DMCA claims (dubious and legit), youtube safety police and youtube censors come so thick and fast then it is also good to kick it old school and download anything you might want to watch to back it up. Downloadhelper and https://youtube-dl.org/ which both do way more than just youtube being two choice sites.

You say this as if the game wasn't on track to still receive a propper reveal when the devs were ready for us to see the game. I see people online proclaiming the person that dropped these videos is a hero, but why? What have they done that has changed anything? All they've done is satisfied the fools who doubted the game was progressing through development.

I truly hope they don't now push out an earlier trailer than what was planned not showcasing as polished off a finished product, just because some tool that somehow got their hands on such content, wanted to be regarded as a 'hero' online.

Still can't even walk into a store to buy a series x or a ps5. let alone online without some kind of forced bundle.

Was still up on various alternatives I linked above, and seemingly has been for a while.

Anyway had a quick scan.
Lot of vectors for basic movement (amusing for the failures at later times in the one I saw). Wouldn't have necessarily tweaked that many were used.

As much as I can tell (this is clearly very early code) the game feel, driving, NPC animations, movement and such is way more 4 and 5 than the previous line, saint's row, watch dogs or anything that actually improved it and made it more than a slog to sit through.
Not sure why so much effort was in vehicle internal customisation (it was going through seat height, steering wheel adjustment and much more besides) but OK.

If this is indicative of the future, never mind if they are going to pushed into online boredom and be afraid to offend the perpetually offended, then I will probably skip this one too -- 4 I skimmed but never did much with, quite liked lost and the damned, 5 I quite like the Survive the Hunt video series but that is people having fun in spite of the controls most of the time and despite me and mine each owning a copy it got nowhere near the amount of play 3, vice city and san andreas did, certainly did not make it into the playing for fun circles like those or L&D did.
