I'm using Looping Audio Converter. The MP3 file is only 2.52MB, and I've followed all the advice from this thread - https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-make-3ds-custom-themes-2020-updated.568539/

Once the file is converted and the theme installed, the audio starts out with a high pitch tone in the background. Eventually, especially if I'm shuffling my themes, the audio just breaks down into a garbled mess of static and noise.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Alright. It seems to be a shuffle problem. I don't know why though. Same problem just occurred with a theme I downloaded. I know that the N3DS has trouble loading custom themes if the microSD is too large, and mine is over 200GB. Perhaps that's the issue...

OK fine, maybe not a shuffle problem. To recap: I have five custom themes (I did not make myself) on shuffle and the audio works perfectly. I have one downloaded theme whats audio corrupts when included in that shuffle, and I have one self made theme that does the same thing. I thought it could simply be the number of themes but both of the themes that corrupt continue to do so regardless of how many themes are in the shuffle. Six themes: those two particular themes have audio corruption. Only two themes: those two particular themes have audio corruption. I have to assume it's the BCSTM file, right?

It's definitely a shuffle issue. I've got my custom theme working with it's custom music every time if it's set as a stand alone theme. If i set it to shuffle with other themes, the sound is completely distorted.

Using (micro)SD cards that are 128 GB and bigger formatted in FAT32 + 64 KB cluster size.

***

Delete your HOME Menu theme extdata folder and shuffle install the basic color themes to rebuild it.

***

Try creating your themes with Looping Audio Converter v2.1 or older.

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
