Hardware How do I use a multimeter to see if a battery is working as it should?

I purchased a replacement battery for my standard new 3DS and want to check if it's good. How do I check the battery maintains a charge or something?

I'm not sure if i'm doing it right but I set multimeter to DCV 20 and touched the positive probe to positive contact, and negative probe to negative contact on battery. I get a read of 4.15 on the battery. Is this normal?
