I have made a set of tutorials that detail how to disassemble the wii and install various modchips. This is not done yet and will be updated whenever a new video is finished.

List of videos so far
- How to Disassemble the wii
- How to Reassemble the wii
- How to replace the wii DVD drive
- How to Install the DriveKey
- How to Install the Sunkey
- How to Install the Sunkey Lite

This is the end of my tutorial and I know that it may be considered an advertisement but if you are looking for parts and modchips, dont hesitate to shop at Super Mod Chips for any parts you may need, especially if you are Australian.

That is what is recommended for the Wii since the new players in the new Wii console can use other methods, such as DVD backups unless the disk is changed. If you have an old disk Wode would also allow the Wii to boot backups of DVDs, but from a new Wii console to boot from a USB device as an external hard drive. It takes 30 minutes to install everything and installed correctly. I recommend carrying an SD card with you.

modchips.

which is the best modchip to use, have been studying the solderless drivekey mod chip and thinking of getting this one, looks really easy to install, just so i can play backups and would this open up anything else giving me further options or just backups and make the wii region free and would the drivekey be ok with further updates????dont really know a lot about these...dont want to go down the road of installing the HBC, as the wii is for my kids so dont want to brick it....then i will be in trouble,

i have a wii on 4.3e...purchased it about 2007-8

also compatability????

any info would be great...

Do a softmod and with a modchip you cal also brick your wii by installing out of region update and if you have a d3-2 drive you CANNOT read DVD with any modchip
the best would be to softmod, autoboot cfg loader and disable dangerous options (like erasing games)

You will now need a drive modchip if you want to play GC audio streaming games
Softmods can play discs with no problem

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
