Tutorial  Updated

Install .nsp files (games/updates/dlc) with devmenu (NO SX OS needed)

*Guide updated to be 100% offline&

A quick guide for whoever is interested. (GUIDE AND FILES FOR 5.1 ONLY!)

- Download the package.zip attached (credits to user blahblah and Kolunio)

- Extract all of its contents into the root of your SD Card

- Download Pokemon Quest .NSP and put it in X:\Tinfoil\nsp

- Download Devmenu (google is your friend)

- Place the 2 folders of the DevMenu (exefs and romfs) to X:\atmosphere\titles\01005D100807A000

- Boot your switch into RCM and inject the hekate payload (original or ctcaer should work I used the hekate_ctcaer one)

- Open album to go to HB menu and from there open Tinfoil.

- Install Pokemon Quest.

- Exit Tinfoil and HBmenu.

- Open Pokemon Quest and you are done!

If you have no idea how to install nsp files.

I installed Mario Odyssey with the lastest update and worked just fine!

PS: If you download nsp with too long filenames you might get an error when installing. Just rename to a short name and you will be good. Thanks to ali.ee for that info.

yep, exactly that
got it working. the only thing I didn't like is that it installed pquest.nsp to nand. didn't give me option to install to sd card.

after i get devmenu going where do the nsp's go to install?

Doesn't matter where you install devmenu. Honestly it's better if you install it to the system nand. The other nsp you can place them anywhere, even on the root of your SD. You can also delete them after you're done installing

It doesn't give you the start option? That's very strange

By the way, where are you installing the updates/DLC? Memory card or system memory?

Both, I realized like you said might have to play more for dlc because I installed dlc for xenoverse and that works. No problem, xeno dlc is on SD

I don't know what sigpatched atmosphere is but if you follow the guide here it will work.

A couple of questions:

1. If I uninstall the NSP backups, boot back into horizon OS and go online, will I still get banned?

2. Can I stay online and not just launch the NSP backup? Will I still get banned by Nintendo? I will only do this when I play online games like Splatoon.

I got this up and running and all games work great. Now my question is if I boot up sx-os will I be able to still run the installed nsp's? also would I be able to run pokemon quest and still get devmenu?

Pretty sure you wont be able to run devmenu as that is being run via atmosphere only. the installed NSP however, i'm not sure, might as well test it

I would test but I only have sx-os in my 4.1 switch which is the reason I used this method on my other switch because it was on 5.1. I was thinking of getting sx-os for my 5.1 switch also.

edit:nevermind. SX-OS just dropped version 1.4 with nsp installer.

Okay, let's get more specific now and maybe I'll have better luck than the other day.

All right, so first step is removing homebrew files from my SD card. I left the switch directory in tact, however, since it shouldn't matter and I've got a bunch of homebrew on there. The second is taking the entire contents from package.zip and placing them into my SD card's root directory. I didn't replace hbmenu.nro since it should be the same either way. I placed DevMenu's romfs and exefs folders and subsequent files under the atmosphere/titles/01005D100807A000 directory. Then for booting I use a paperclip jig TegraRcmGUI and the hekate_ctcaer_3.2.bin. It boots up into the custom firmware and the homebrew channel runs, no problem. Games installed via Tinfoil also work, no problem. I already have Pokémon Quest, so I just open it instead of installing something I already have. When I open Pokémon Quest it opens up DevMenu instead. Unfortunately, however, when I select Install from SD it just hangs there for a few seconds, then throws the error "The software was closed because an error occurred."

I've tried this a few times: deleting and replacing the files each time just in case, and of course booting it again twice or so just to be sure. I even used a few other methods to load DevMenu not mentioned here; none of them can get past this. (Although one of them just hangs forever when I select "Install from SD" and I have to close it by opening the home menu.)

Is there anything I can do to get this to work, or does my switch just magically not work like others? It's on 5.1.0, is a launch switch and has been updated legit through Nintendo's servers every time.

Did you update to 5.1.0 online or use rajkosto's method(WITHOUT burning any fuses)?

with all the advances in both homebrew and sx-os I just updated to officially. I don't think I'll ever have to go back to a lower firmware now. I don't mind loosing warmboot as I have 2 sx-pro and it's probably quicker to use the dongle than to access a website everytime I have to reboot which is hardly ever.
