are we able to install custom xci's with any program yet? Like including the update/dlc? or do we need to extract all of these files first and do them individually? (I'm talking about installing the custom xci's I use with sx os in atmosphere using an NSP installer)

In the team xecuter forum many people reported having issues with installing custom xcis. Some work, some don’t work. The support says it’s best to install games and updates seperately. It makes sense to me since there are different ways to create custom xcis. So if you want to play xcis without installing, go for custom xcis. If you want to install them, you should install everything seperately.

I have kind of the same question was looking though the messages for an answer and saw this. I am currently using sxos and prefer using custom xcis but I'm thinking one day I will no longer use sxos (by choice or maybe they stop support) so when you say to install everything separately do you mean keeping the same game in both nsp versions and custom xci? Or taking the custom xci and extracting all the separate components (game, update dlc etc..) Honestly I never looked into how custom xci is made so excuse my ignorance, is it easy to exact all the components of a custom xci? Is there a program that does it?

If you install xci games, install the game and than seperately the updates and dlcs. Don’t pack them together in one xci and try to install it.

You can install custom xcis using integrated sx installer (sxmenu). Everytime you play installed games, DLCs/ Update will ask to check license but you can skip it and start the game, everything will be on set.

But isn't a custom xci just that? All packed together? I have no plans to install anything right now, I am happy with playing the custom xci with sxos. What I wanted to know is for the future in case I do one day, will it be possible to extract all the components and install them individually? or is it better to also keep nsp versions of each game with separate updates and dlcs?

it sounds like it's possible to install these custom xci's, but the updates and DLC seem like they have some issues getting installed together with the base XCI making them prompt the user with some nag dialogue each time the game is opened. For convenience sake, it seems like installing them separately will solve all issues related to tickets/certificates that these games probably rely on.

the benefit here is Install custom XCIs won't leave any signs in ticketbobs and DLCs/ Update work.

tinfoil does not have these issues.

I managed to install custom xcis but tinfoil only installs the base one but update and dlcs. Is it normal? Thanks.

Tinfoil purposefully ignores updates in XCI's because they are almost always outdated. I will look into DLC, it should not ignore those.

If you are worried about ticketblobs, just enable standard crypto to remove the tickets.

I'd like to keep using CXCIs as my main backup (all-in-one). If Tinfoil can handle the "all-in-one" in the next updates, it'd be awesome. Thanks so much.

SAme here. I'd like to use Custom XCIs as my main backup.
is there any other option to install the XCI including all updates and dlcs? I'm stuck with the installed base version of a game, just like @thaikhoa

Use Tinfoil 1.52, it works on 9.0. The best version of Tinfoil .

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Those preloaded ones are junk. You can Google raspberry Pi and find where they are sold near you, or on amazon.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, i don't think my parents will get me a pi
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
You can get older ones even like the pi 3,4 for cheap, but they don't play gamecube, Wii etc very well. Be warned they use a Linux os, which you need to load onto a micro SD card yourself. You can find pre built images like "retro-pie" online free tho which makes it easy to setup.
