The earliest models could be softmodded by going into RCM but that was patched by NIntendo. You need a modchip to bypass the protection in the switch you have to get to homebrew.

You would want to either do a HWFLY V4 or V5 or do a picofly, avoid RP2040 HWFLY if you can, you can find them on Aliexpress.

Hwfly V4 and V5 are older chip, but they are better quality than RP2040, RP2040 is known for bricking nand.
thanks. So everything I search says rp2040, whether i search picofly or hwfly. should I wait to buy? does this sound legit, found on the amazonzzz and alixpress?:

You can look at this thread to see how the chip looks like, you need one specially says RP2040 HWFLY or HWFLY V4 or V5, V4 and V5 are older chip

Ideally you want either Hwfly v4 or v5, would recommend to avoid Hwfly v6 as they are using the RP2040. There seem to be some issues with people nand corrupting.
is that any of these in the pic? otherwise where can I buy it, how? not really helpful to just say to buy something thats not available, these are the ones on the market now.

picofly or v1-6 as you posted will also work. But it's a hit and miss with the RP2040 chips from HWfly. You absolutly don't need C since it's for the OLED.

I sadly have no idea why the cables are routed different in A and B, both of them should work imho.

So anything saying RP2040 is not supported by patched V1s? How about this one? thanks again

They are supported but it is kinda hit or miss with rp2040 hwfly, as they are poor quality control. One of my friends went with hwfly v5 chip, no issues for him
