There are a ton of different screen protectors out there and I was wondering what is the better of them? I know a lot of people said Hori but they aren't made any more. Glass ones I have heard cause problems as the screen is restive instead of capacitive touch. Any suggestions? Are there any that don't use adhesive but rather slide on in between the bezel and the screen? I had a few old PDA's with screen protectors like that. I know sometimes apply ones with adhesive can be tricky and not get dust or trapped bubbles.

Honestly? No idea, I havent used an actual screen protector on my Wii U since day 1. I did eventually end up buying a case for it that had a plastic overlay to the screen, seems to work just fine without any problems and the touch screen is still super responsive so I'd suggest something along those lines.

Interesting. I have seen pull on flexible cases, usually look like silicone similar to the ones used on the Wiimotes. But never saw one that had a plastic overlay for the screen. Any idea where to get one like that?

Not sure, I had bought my Wii U at GameStop and one of the employees just gave me the case on the house. Never really took it off so I didnt question too much about it.

I personally don't use a case or screen protector and so far so good. No damage to the screen what so ever. If you have little ones playing the system though it's probably a good idea. Have you checked Amazon for those case things? They might have them

Well I have had PDA's in the past with the same kind of screen and they all scratched (granted long ago but it seems like the same tech with the same feel). Perhaps just my luck back then, but I don't want to take the risk at this point.

I did look at Amazon before but will look again, perhaps the search terms I was using are off.

I'm using a screen protector from BroTec. It's matt, so no more reflections on the screen and I always liked BroTec in the past but here the protector is around 1 to 2 millimeters smaller than the screen. We all know what happens when dirt gets between the screen and the case and this displacement of the protector helps getting dirt in there.
So if anyone knows a better brand please tell.

Most of the protectors I have found are smaller than the screen area. :/ I have yet to find one of a perfect size or larger. I had hoped to find one that slipped in without adhesive and would also help with the dirt in the bezel problem.

Have you managed to find any that don’t interfere with using the touch screen?

The set I just purchased requires me to press super hard for touch input to even register

You mean something like this?
OSTENT Anti-shock Hard Plastic Box Cover https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FJ2GYQ8/
Although this does not have any screen protection. But at least it does allow the charging cradle to be used. Another one I found does not https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012ZJ6PJ8/

Most of the plastic film type should work. The ones that give the problem you describe is because they are made from glass.

Finding a plastic film one that fits well, durable, doesn't obsure the screen, and easy to apply without bubbles or other install problems is HARD. But the right size seems to be the hardest aspect. Usually they are smaller. I did find iLLumiShield Screen Protector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J4JUIOA/ which seems about the best, but still not a perfect fit. I think I am going to give them a try and see.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
