Homebrew MAME 2003 Question

New Nintendo 3DS XL Louvre

Hello everyone, I bought this and I want to play some games on it. If I remove the microSD card which contains the audio guide the console gives this message: microSD card is not inserted. Can we make it run games and use it as a console?

Before I download the full ROM set that's 40gb big can anyone tell me how well does MAME 2003 run on a N3DS and if it's worth running please
