Thanks for this! I was finally able to hack my sister's dsi that doesn't have Flipnote Studio, and i can confirm: The exploit only works with the latest version, i tried on 1.4U and it didn't work until i updated the console.
I read through all 6 pages of this thread and I don't see a complete guide to hack from stock to playing backups. Is there a complete tutorial somewhere for this hack? I just bought a Dsi XL so I'm not sure how to began.
Thanks much. I was just reading through that guide, but I don't see how and where to put your backups to load.First thing to do is to update the system if it isn't already (1.4.5 is the latest with a letter added for the region), second thing is to open the camera app and complete the tutorial if it hasn't been done.
Then you can follow the steps in the guide here https://dsi.cfw.guide
Oh and if you are on windows install/update 7-zip
Once you complete the install process including twilightmenu++ you'll have a roms folder with subdirectories for various platformsThanks much. I was just reading through that guide, but I don't see how and where to put your backups to load.
I see. Thanks for info.Once you complete the install process including twilightmenu++ you'll have a roms folder with subdirectories for various platforms
There's got to be some sort of distinction, since the TWiLightMenu++ thread says that without HiyaCFW, "you won't be able to play DS ROMs, and only GB(C), NES, and DS homebrew can be ran". So my question is, would this vulnerability be any different?AFAIK the DSi doesn't have the concept of kernel and userland, there's just the separation between ARM9 and ARM7 (the latter being the security CPU). You could try running the exploit and booting TWiLightMenu++

Or just... update your console? It has been confirmed that the exploit does not work on v1.4.3X. It either goes to the Album or it freezes. So some extra work needs to be done.
Well, it’s a bunch of DSi’s and devunits with v1.2, v1.4, ect that need to be dumped...!Or just... update your console?
Oh, sorry, I forgot about those. I assumed you had an ordinary retail console. Still, due to the rarity of those consoles, I'm not sure if they could be easily supported.Well, it’s a bunch of DSi’s and devunits with v1.2, v1.4, ect that need to be dumped...!
Some of them can’t even be updated and one of them is a rare unit called “v1.4_KST”. You definetly don’t want to update those!
It’s just a fact of changing the version code (it only supports v1024 at the moment and v768 and v256 do not work) in the exploit. I just wish I could do it so Shutterbug doesn’t has to do it.Oh, sorry, I forgot about those. I assumed you had an ordinary retail console. Jeez I'm failing miserably at getting my Japanese DSi to connect to the internet. I'm on 1.4J, which I assume means i have to update.
Can anyone help me? If I choose from the first three slots, when I choose my router it tells me something about security. When I choose the second set, 4-6, whenever I enter my PSK AES key, I get an error message.
Do you think it's just that? I think it could also be that offsets are different on older firmware version, and that's what causes the malfunctioningIt’s just a fact of changing the version code (it only supports v1024 at the moment and v768 and v256 do not work) in the exploit.
