Microsoft adds new Series X|S theme that mimics the look of the original Xbox

Want to make your 2020 console look a little more 2000s? Just add this new theme that Microsoft has released for Xbox Series X|S consoles. Right now, as part of the May firmware update for the Series X|S, a free theme has been added to make your dashboard have the old-school original Xbox startup blob in the background, in celebration of the system turning 20 years old. To change your theme, you'll need to head to Settings > General > Personalization > My background > Dynamic background. Beyond the fun cosmetic change, the update also improves how the Quick Resume feature works, showing you which of your games is suspended, and giving the function an overall speedup. Why not match your new theme by playing an original Xbox game through backwards compatibility?

I took a couple of minutes out of my day to research your body of work before saying something against you. I do not consider this to be a waste of time. Contrarily, I think making an effort to understand people better is a good thing.

I must say, I'm more than a little disappointed that your insult game has not evolved beyond "bunghole" in so many years, though. Maybe talk like an adult next time you crawl out of whatever hole you've sprung from? You aren't 14 anymore.

Have a nice day.
I am 14 you fetid cannoli.

just cant stand people asskissing the blades ui like its the second coming of christ
original xbox UI had style and looked sleek. it was by far the best looking UI of that gen and it's straight up timeless
Honestly? If they expanded on it, and gave it more functionality, I'd give it the crown. UIX Lite comes close to doing this.

Oh... Wow... A background... Meanwhile, I'm running UIX on my OG Xbox and its phenomenal.

It's a nice homage... But.. Are there the background noises and sounds? That'd really make it great.

I wish. The flubber animation is all.. weird.. too. I would've almost preferred if it was just the rotating cellwall/fog.

Also, UIX is pretty neat. Check out UIX Lite :)

Edit: Well shit. I didn't read your last message. Carry on!

Right? I just feel like they took some generic marble, made it green and slapped it on the Xbox background... Kinda lazy, in my opinion. UIX Lite is great. Tried it the other day. Back on Unleash for now.

Little lazy, but I do appreciate the attempt. But that flubber is messing with me every time I see it.

Thanks for the kind words on UIX Lite though, we're working on pushing a new release within the next month.

With the world coming back, development kind of tanked on the XBE side (my fault!), but ImOk and Odb718 have been going honey baked ham on theming and cleaning up xips so I think we're at a point where we can push something out that's "stable enough" for daily drivers.

What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display
