Taylor Smith is an 11-year-old girl who was born with arthrogryposis, a degenerative muscle disease that essentially gives her no muscle in her arms and legs. It makes daily tasks that you and I take for granted difficult for Taylor, but Taylor doesn’t see it as a hindrance and always manages to get things done

Family friend Tony Watkins wondered if Taylor could enjoy a game of WiiSports with his children, and with a simple four-hairband fastening, Taylor was having fun just like everyone else. Mr. Watkins wrote to Nintendo with the story, and they promptly sent a free Wii console to the Smith home. Taylor now plays baseball at home with her siblings, causing nothing but smiles for everyone. Said Mr. Watkins,

“This is the first time she has been able to play electric games with her family and it’s great to see her smile.”

Sleep happily tonight. Another child has the perfect Christmas present courtesy of Nintendo.

Not to be mean, but if she has muscle disease - I don't think giving her a Wii.
She could hurt herself playing some games with the Wii Remote...

And I've never known Nintendo to be so generous...

You would be very surprised at that.

And no, I don't think it's safe either.

Nintendo should give money instead to fund their treatment. Is it not intimidating if you give a present to someone but they'll hurt themselves using it?

Christmas not = materialism I thought.

They're just trying to get people to think "awwwwww" for Nintendo, and then buy their products. It's all a big marketing ploy

But seriously, giving a Wii to blind kids or kids that can't use their arm/leg muscles... Pathetic!

Yeah, it would have been so much better if they could have given the wii to an able bodied person, at least then it wouldn't go to waste.

I really don't think it's going to waste. She can play it, you know.

QUOTEThis is the first time she has been able to play electric games with her family

So no, it's not a waste. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Sorry, I just assume people know that I'm being sarcastic when I use italics.

She's playing and she's loving it, why can't you guys be happy about it too?

I too think this is a really bullshit marketing ploy. It's like Public Enemy giving their entire discography to all the kids at the Helen Keller Foundation or the Louvre giving free visits to the art gallery to kids from the Braille Institute. And Nike giving out free running shoes to quadriplegics.

I don't see the buzz about a square screen personally. I think there will be a review on the site within a few weeks though if you are interested.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.

I don't care about the square screen it's just nice to hold something you don't have to stretch your arms a foots length

All these things expecting to be super huge is overrated just run a type c cable to your TV if you want a big display or in my case screen mirror it

On the go tho I meant, I use my 10" tablet and a Bluetooth controller for retro gaming while sitting on my porch or on long car rides sometimes. Easier on my eyes than the Switch screen.

My point is we already have enough shit with big displays having something pocketable with up to ps2 would be fine on the go
