Is NTRboot currently the fastest and easiest way to install CFW?

Theoretically yes aside of downloading what you need just the installing.

What about injecting NTRboot onto an AK2i? I injected it and I thought that the cart would not work any longer for nds roms but mine still does

Not personally sure with the AK2i as I used the other card method.

Silly me, I completely skipped over this "except for in the case of the Acekard 2i, which remains functional on 3DS systems with custom firmware installed only" which was on 3dsguide.

Now I am so glad I have bought the AK2i years ago.
