I copied the base folder 2 except the config file but when I start the game it gives me an error. Should I also copy the config file from the steam folder?

New release: v0.5.0
  • now supports mission packs and mods with custom game libraries (though anything other than the ones listed in the OP needs to be built for the Switch first);
  • re-added software renderer (and in general changeable renderers);
  • rebased port on latest upstream yquake2;
  • built with latest libnx, so probably works on AMS0.19.x/FW12.x.x.
See the OP for more information. Don't forget to read the release notes.

Great port, I just quick tested it, because its in contrary of Q3 working fine on my Switch (AT 19.3 + FW 12.0.2)

Joystick menu needs better wording - pitch and yaw,expo arent typical game options words.. Something like horizontal and vertical sensitivity + acceleration settings would be better.

Default looking settings in one hand its slow, it other acceleration is too high, so its quite hard to aim something.

Some FPS counter as option -yes/not would be nice and i dont understand why is not always run enabled by default, someone want to walk?

Those are the Yamagi Quake 2 defaults. Autorun defaults to off even in the original game. I am pretty sure there is an FPS counter, you can turn it on with a console command that I don't remember (cl_showfps 1?).

Autorun - Its maybe off in original game, but 99% or player will turn it on, so it should be on by default, otherwise is waste of time of every player.
FPS - counter yea its probably in console (but you have active console through menu, google command, write it on virtual keyboard - is annoying procedure), but add it as some on/off switch in menu would be much better..

Joystick settings - " Yamagi Quake 2 defaults" as end user i dont care, who is author of particular part of code, but about overall experience and this menu design simply sucks.. so if you want to give player best experience fork it.. or fix it even for Yamagi port.

For something like look sensitivity settings, that shit's too personal. If I change the defaults, some people are going to complain it's too fast just like you're complaining it's too slow. Pretty sure the same goes for autorun defaults. I've seen people ask for walk buttons in Quake-like games. Let people figure out what they want, that's what the settings menu is for.
FPS display is mainly a debugging feature, there's little reason for it to be in the options menu, especially since there's an in-game console. For everything else pull requests are welcome.

    @Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

    They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
    It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

    Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

    @SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

    anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

    if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

    Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

    @BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
    You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
    still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
    i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
