Ocarina of Time fan PC port gets difficulty settings and randomizer in new update

A new update has been released for the Ship of Harkinian, the fanmade PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. While the port already boasted a number of impressive features from its last update, a number of new customization options, quality of life improvements and cheats have been added.

Let's start with difficulty options. Customizable difficulty has been added through a series of toggles and sliders that let users adjust various aspects of the game, such as damage multipliers and potion effects. There's also the option to turn off heart drops entirely.

To offset this, there's a number of cheats that can make things easier on you. Some of them include using a shield with a two-handed sword, a fireproof Deku Shield, a visible vision cone for the Hyrule Castle guards, the bunnyhood can be used on Adult Link, items can be used anywhere and a cheat so that Epona never becomes fatigued.

There's also a number of quality of life improvements. The biggest one is that the framerate is now mostly unlocked, letting you choose a custom framerate up to 250. But there are other smaller features added as well; players can now customize the HUD by moving the minimap or other objects, a new GUI has been introduced for binding controls, there's now a free camera, you can now equip tunics and boots to the D-pad to equip them faster, adjustable climbing speed, no forced Navi, opening chests is faster, and more.

Finally, the video ends on a demonstration of a new item randomizer.

The official download for Ship of Harkinian can be found on their Discord server.

Please refrain from discussing where and how to find precompiled copies of this game including nro etc, as those files contain copyrighted materials

It's okay to discuss the project and how to obtain the means to create your own working copy, but not to share or discuss how to share the end product itself

From what I understand, the nro does not contain any copyrighted materials.

You still need to supply your own (legally obtained) rom to generate an otr file, which the nro then loads.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think you're right. I was able to compile it for the switch earlier, and it created the otr and nro.

Yeah, the nro simply contains the code from the decompilation project, along with some additions to get it running on the switch (from devkitpro).

No Nintendo assets or copyrighted code in the nro, that is all contained within the otr file as I mentioned, which the user generates from their own supplied rom.

I could upload the nro I made if I find out it's okay. The devs on discord are also against piracy. They do provide the tools needed for the rom as well as the nro, exe, elf, or rpx, since they don't contain Nintendo code. I think they even ban you for providing rom links or speaking of piracy.

I think that comes down to the mods discretion. I have a precompiled version as well. Hopefully it would be allowed due to reasons we have explained.

I wonder if I'd get this to run on Steam Deck.
Once the randomiser has parity with the 3DS one this’ll be my OoT of choice. Runs great on Steam Deck too. Until then though, OoT3D also runs great via Citra.
Super easy to setup. Download the Linux version, pop the OoT file in the same folder, and run the app. It’ll set itself up pretty quickly.

After that just make sure to go into the options json and configure the screen resolution to match the Steam Deck, else it’ll be limited to whatever the default is.

Why thank you very much!
The only other issue is to get the actual thing to run as foe the life of me I couldn't do it on desktop..

To get working, follow the instructions on the github page.

https://github.com/HarbourMasters/Shipwright

Then place soh.nro and oot.otr in sd/switch/soh
is there anything else i need on the switch other than soh.nro and oot.otr? ive successfully built it on my windows pc and it runs fine on windows, i use that same otr file on my switch and nothing happens. when i try to launch the nro i get a blank screen for a while then an error message on my switch.
