couldn't you also make a pandora battery from a program on the PSP?

my friend had something on his PSP that turned my normal battery to pandora.

which means you could do that and save money AND a battery.

You need to have a PSP already with CFW installed to be able to softmod a battery that way.

Hardmods are inherently more difficult for inexperienced people, but softmods are far easier, especially to reverse.

Do you know exactly what is needed aside from the psp w/ CFW and the battery to be turned into a pandora one? As in is the sort of program or file needed to run through the PSP w/ CFW? And is it reversible, as in can you change it back to normal? Guessing from the previous post yes?

Thanks for the replies and comments!

You know, only 1k mobos and the 2k's 85v1 can softmod batteries into pandoras, right?
Meanwhile you don't need some sort of program for it cause 5.50 GEN-D3 has in incorporated in the Recovery Menu.

Just saying it's not that difficult but not that easy either.

Ah ok...sooo all I would need is a PSP 1000 (which I can obtain) or a 2k version like you mentioned with CFW?
Well of course the battery to become a pandora too.
And to access the recovery menu...is that when you shut off the PSP and hold the R trigger when turning it back on?
And if so there should be an option to do so correct? And a way to reverse it too?

Sorry for all the questions! But I appreciate your replies! Thanks!

Yeah, exactly. There's 2 options - Make battery into pandora battery and Make battery into normal battery.
When you're doing the latter, plug 1k with charger, no battery, enter recovery menu, insert Pandora, select option, ???, PROFIT!

Hi, new to the PSP Modding Scene.

My kid has updated his PSP (Model 2002) to 6.31 via the net.

Can this version firmware still be hacked using a Pandora Battery? ( I know the motherboard supports it, its a very early slim unit.)

And on another note: Does cutting the leg of the chip mean the battery can then ONLY be used for this purpose?

Thanks.

If it's an early slim then yes a Pandora battery is the way to go and will be fine for downgrading/installing CFW. No cutting the leg doesn't mean that it's only good for being a service battery but personally i'd always recommend getting yourself a dedicated Pandora. Decent genuine batteries are like Gold Dust these days...

Small note worth mentioning: If a PSP is definitely compatible with a pandora battery, then it can be used to downgrade and install CFW no matter which firmware it's running. Pandora batteries have their effect before the firmware has a chance to load.

So just to confirm, if I were to have a PSP 1000 that is currently on OFW 6.20, I could use a "self-made/softmodded" pandora battery created from lets say a friends PSP already w/ CFW, (that I was talking about earlier in this thread) to downgrade the firmware and then follow the instructions on the original post of this guide to install CFW on it? And then I could turn the "self-made/softmodded" back to a normal battery using my own PSP which would have CFW installed by then correct?

Any help or comments are appreciated!
