They are ammo starving players. They have "accidentally" botched the catch rate and jacked up the flee rate, and had Pokeballs fly in all the random directions when thrown.

They want people to wonder around blindly to look for a Pokemon while having no footprints for the same reason Ikea makes their stores a maze; the longer a person plays, the higher the odds are that they will be tempted to make a micro-transaction purchase, and spend money.

The fact that this app has limited scans is crap. Just go download PokeTracker, and use a temp email to make a sock Pokemon Trainer Club account that you use for it. You don't have to pay for scans on that one.

3rd party apps are against Niantics ToS; this includes tracking apps. Just play the game like how its supposed to be played.

ohhh yes the conspiracy theories, keep them coming, we always have a good laugh with them on the staff forum tell you what... when regular members become mods and get to see the inner secret places with all the hidden stuff that's staff-only, they are always somewhat disappointed to find out there's no secret porn or ROM stash, no secret plot to rip off our members, nobody paying us to bias our reviews... I imagine for some of them it's a letdown to realize that GBAtemp is actually just a plain old independent community.

seriously, if you knew the least bit about GBAtemp you'd know there isn't anything of the sort involved. We're just proud to have exclusivity over the news because the creators like our site, that's all there is to it.

I don't use apps like that, lol pay to scan
So i got my guts togheter and installed it on a spare android phone with a new account, installed this and, well it didn't find anything, so i installed pokémesh and poke live (both free, but require a google or ptc account to scan (again, don't use your own), both found 6 pokémon, pokenavgo again, nothing.

So there are better alternatives (not in the android store, but it takes away all the fun, so i reformatted the phone again, (it's a spare in case of emergency family phone in case 1 gets broken)
I'm level 25, without cheating/pokemon search apps and no i don't live in the city with lottsa spawnpoint, i have to drive 30 minutes to get to a descent city (Bruges (Burg)/Ostend/Nieuwport (harbor port)(Belgium) or an hour to go to Ghent (Citadelpark) to get my pokémon (in my town only pidgeys/rattata's/weedles and zubats pop up) (and that's good also, to level up with the use of a lucky egg.

It's not cheating, it's just digitally pinpointing out where the pokemon could be instead of using a piece of paper to draw circles, you actually have to walk till the pokemon dissappears from your sighting, then walk back to your point it showed up, walk in another direction, mark again when it dissappears etc...

I am not comparing pokemon go to them. I am comparing the tools that are in them which is what apps like this, basically are, just different. How you even thought I was comparing the games is beyond me. I hate PoGo for the reason its nothing remotely close to a main series title. I would prefer there to be some type of story. IMO they should have done a good side bad side instead of these dumb teams. then battling would make a lot more sense. anyways thats off topic and should be discussing the app.

This uses data from Niantic servers for profit. It's not far from charging money for downloads of old 3DS firmware files. I can't believe GBAtemp is allowing this, much less promoting and directly linking it.

I mean I'm all for it personally, but if we're going that far then we might as well be hosting nintendo update files, xorpads, etc. GBAtemp hasn't been that kind of website for a long time, and it's a welcome step in my opinion.

For anything covered there I would be happy to sleep at night having done it and not be worried about being dragged in front of the beak legitimately (squash 'em in fees is a different matter). On a personal aesthetic level I am not overly fond of pay per use applications but it is a thing that can exist.

Update files is an odd one. We would happily host PSP updates, 360 updates, specific DVD firmware updates and whatnot, several of which might have been some flavour of beta or not explicitly released to the public.

You are clearly deluded if you honestly think that. A guidebook tells you exactly what Pokemon you can find on what routes. Which these scanners also represent.
A guidebook is quite comparable to these apps based on that scenario. These apps do not go out and catch the Pokemon for you. They tell you were they are and expect you to catch them. Whether or not it has high IVs or higher level in that area is your luck of the draw. A Pokemon guidebook tells you where Pokemon are as well. Same principle you have to do the legwork yourself to catch the Pokemon you want and again IVs,etc are also luck of the draw.

The PokeRadar and DexNav from main series titles also have similar functionality to these scanners. These are more closely related to the scanners than a guidebook is definitely, but the purpose is definitely the same.

In all honesty Pokemon go is not that different in terms of the main point of the damn games. CATCH FUCKING POKEMON. I agree Pokemon Go is extremely lacking in battling and other areas we know and love from main titles but its still a game where you fucking catch Pokemon. I don't want to hear you people trying to make dumb arguments about aspects that I am using to compare these apps to that are in the main games and say that these apps for Pokemon Go is cheating. Pokemon Go itself had a similar feature when it launched to begin with, then it broke. Which is why these apps are popular as it is.

To be absolutely clear I am not comparing the main titles to this game period. The point of the games are the same yes but this game as I said before is lacking and pretty much garbage to that end in its current state. I am using aspects of them and saying they do pretty much exactly the same thing these apps do for Pokemon Go. A guidebook in that sense also serves the same purpose. However given Pokemon go is online based and they have been moving Pokemon around a guidebook would be pretty useless if it was anything like guidebooks for the main series games.

if everyone wants a tracker so bad just download Pokemon go ++ from Cydia and turn off fake location so you can play legit and still have a tracker. Except it's built into the app like a boss. It also tells you the ivs of your pokes instead of using a diffrent site. Just turn off the gps spoof and use it legit just with the "help websites" implemented

If you on android sorry. The Android "hack" sucks since it's only gps spoofing..which is boring, and you have to install xposed which is freakin hassle if your not an android firmware flashing expert

They explained why they thought a guidebook was comparable to pokenav type things. They both tell you where exactly to find pokemon to capture, of which you are meant to discover yourself with no help as part of the core experience. They backed up what they said. Care to do the same? With reasons, and not just hand-waving?
