I just don't understand why people play Avatar for the achievements. Does it make you feel like more of a gamer? Because pushing a button or two over and over in practice mode doesn't make you any better than a 2 year old who just got their hands on the game.
I like having a big achievement score. Don't get me wrong, I play all my games without giving a shit about achievements, then once I finish it, I go for them, but avatar is too good to pass up.

hardest one was maki roll mania right?

though heavenly score was pretty hard due to the crap d-pad also...
Yes. I actually got it on my 5th try, which was based on pure luck. That and the final one (in the level Game Over) were the hardest. My 8 y.o. friend actually cried in frustration. You have to actually collect them in one go. Dying takes a lot of time. Not to mention it only runs for a minute.

For the DDR minigame, I just press the edges of the D-pad.

Another game I tried is Doritos Dash of Destruction. Unlike Avatar, it's a good game which can be played with other people. Pretty decent game IMO. But this game only gets you 200GS, not 1000.

Well, atleast MHM2 is fun for the first 20 minutes or something, I don't think Avatar is any fun at all is it ?

Just wanted to bump this old topic with another couple of completed games such as Battlefield: 1943 and Dash of Destruction.

People keep posting.

For anyone who doesn't know what they're talking about when they say the avatar is stupid way to get 1k gs unless you actually played the game, then here you go,
And i totally agree, very very stupid unless you actually played the damn game

Hey Joe, is Saw actually enjoyable? I saw you playing it, but I don't know if you did it for the achievements or not.
it sort of like silent hill including the very broken combat system

puzzles were a bit challenging but they were the same ones over and over again except harder each time

my brother wanted it so I dl'd it and started playing it since I was bored but then saw the achievements was easy about half way through the game and just finished it
also exploited a few glitches in the game to get a few achievements
like I had to get five kills by stomping a guy to death through the game, loaded the area went up to the guy and stomped him, killed myself and repeat process until I get it
it kept counting it instead of not even counting it since I died, even if I reload the last checkpoint it still counts

Soulcalibur IV and Resident Evil 5 are the only retail games I have 1k on. Although on RE5 I'm missing one of the main achievements, I only broke 1k because of the Versus DLC. I got up to 900 with a few games though. One of my life goals is to hit 1k on Dead Rising...

XBLA I have the full 200 on Doritos and Banjo-Kazooie.

I just finished up Assassins Creed is anticipation of the next title. I had to play through again for 2 achievements but it was not so bad as I could skip alot of the stuff.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
