PowerA reveals new Princess Zelda themed controller

PowerA have revealed a new model of their 'Enhanced Wireless Controller' for Switch, featuring artwork from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It comes with all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a $50 controller, such as motion controls and Bluetooth connectivity. Curiously though, it has no rumble functionality. As with most third-party controllers, it lacks Pro-Controller luxuries such as the NFC capability and HD Rumble. Its release date isn't known, but it's up for pre-order alongside currently available designs.

We've previously reviewed PowerA's wired Switch controllers, but these lacked many of the features here, such as motion controls, remappable buttons, and of course, the wireless functionality.

With all the same great features as the original Enhanced Wireless Controllers, the Princess Zelda controller includes:

  • Bluetooth wireless freedom
  • Integrated motion controls and mappable buttons
  • Up to 30 hours of gameplay
  • White Princess Zelda design with blue metallic D-pad
  • Comfortable ergonomic design, and more!

Ughh. My cousins got a couple PowerA Switch pro controllers since they didn't know the difference between the official and a knockoff, and it's joystick is horrible compared to an official Switch Pro Controller. Also, it had these weird buttons on the back.

The back buttons seem kinda gimmicky, yeah. I see similar stuff being used on Xbox controllers or whatever for shooter games, which I guess makes sense? I'm not sure how useful they're gonna be to me. Guess I'll find out.

Worth noting these can actually wake a paired switch, which seems to be rare on 3rd party wireless for whatever reason.

I'd rather see 'em put 6 face buttons on the controller. Killer Instinct 3 is so much more fun when all of the buttons are on the front of the controller with Hori's Fighting Commander Pro controllers!

And there it is. Finally a wireless controller by PowerA.
I might have picked on of their other designs if it would have been wireless.

Edit: oh wait, they have many wireless controllers now (following the source link in OP), missed that. 50 € is an acceptable price for decent wireless Pro Controllers with a cool design. I hope all support gyro and rumble?
I don't care about NFC.

Price is a bit steep. Has no rumble, no NFC and works on batteries you have to provide yourself and that all for 50. Price is way 2 high
Gotta wonder what licensing the zelda images cost though too, but I agree with you.

Figured. Also it's using AA batteries. I'm out. It's a shame since that Diablo III controller looked dope!

Not a fan of the metallic D-Pad, but other than that, I love this design. The PowerA controllers I've reviewed have all been quality, too, so hopefully this'll follow suit. Wasn't too interested in this before since the other designs looked kinda bland to me.

Couldn't help but notice an 'exclusive to Walmart' Mario Bros. 3 controller design in there, and damn that looks nice too... With it being Walmart exclusive, though, I guess I'm out of luck though since I live in the UK... ;_;
Have you had a look at eBay? I would be surprised if it's not on there.
