I assume you are playing it using an injected Wii VC title, if that is the case it won't work. The latest patch doesn't work with injected games. They once said that they would investigate the issue, but it's been years, at this point I'm not sure if this will ever be fixed.

Your only option is to play it directly from the vWii.

Wiimmfi won't work with injected games, it will only work if you use a disc or a usb loader directly from the vWii.
