Hey guys.

I've seen a lot of homebrewing going on the PSP, and decided to hop in as well. I currently do not have a PSP, and wish to use it for PS1, GBA, SNES emulation. And maybe some PSP isos on there as well. I do not know anything in terms of what to do in order for my PSP to be "fully hacked." And I am currently looking for a PSP to buy. I've seen mostly every popular model on craigslist, for about ~$50-60. Where the PSP Go, can go up to ~$120.

Which one should I get solely for homebrewing, playing back-ups of PSP's games, etc. The PSP Go looks neat, however it is quite expensive, but if that is the one that I need, I wouldn't mind picking one up. Anyways, back to the topic, which PSP should I purchase, that will be able to use the best "homebrew" on the internet.

I appreciate any kind of feedback, thanks for reading!

i got a psp go for 70$ including shipping (which is 20$). i can use homebrew, psx, psp games etc. as it is very small, i can just put it in my pocket and go.

look for a cheap psp go, it is worth it. i mainly bought it for psx games as nearly no handheld with physical buttons can emulate psx well yet.

How to hack: http://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-softmod-hack-your-psp.293978/

What PSP you should get: http://gbatemp.net/threads/which-psp-should-i-get.340583/

The PSP is perfect for emulating, and you won't need a ps1 emulator since the PSP can do it.

Well that describes what each is for. But since I don't know much about PSP, that is pretty useless. I'm pretty much asking the opinion of the users on what they think the best is. The PSP Go looks good, but I've heard some negativity about it. Right now, I'm stumped don't know which one to purchase.

Eh, was hoping for more of an in-depth analysis. But I guess, The 3000, and the PSP Go, are the best ones. Which one should I get?

If you look at the second link I gave you, you can see that the 3000 is the same as the 2000 but with a built-in microphone and it can't be unbricked. I don't think 3000 is worth over 2000 just because of that microphone, so don't buy it just because it's newer.

The 2000 would be the best choice when it comes to hacking. The GO can be hacked too, but if you'll do something wrong you'll probably get it bricked. The PSP I own is from the 1000 series and it's pretty good too, I emulated many consoles on it and it's going smoothly.

Well... it's a video game system, not a house. All PSP models have the same basic functions, the Go is like the only real outlier. All the differences are rather minor in the grand scheme of things, you know?

A lot of it is just personal preference, which is why the thread mainly focuses on facts and leaves you to derive your preference based on what things you care about the most.

Alright, I'll just go find a cheap one, and just use that. If all of them are the same. I'll have to see if the PSP Go fits my hands, as I heard it's perfect for small hands. I'll see which one I can get hold of, and for how much. Thanks, I guess.

I live in Canada, so hopefully our target has them in stock aswell. I'll pick up a 3000, thanks guys. Going to check out a thrift shop today, and hopefully I can pick a cheap one from there.

i am a happy owner of a psp go. i use both analog and d-pad. both work fine. no cramps or anything. though my hands are small.

i also bought official sony component cables today. psx games work full screen but psp games work in window unfortunately. i have to try fusa sd when i have time. though the windowed picture hasn't disturbed me much. also the cables are very long, giving you plenty of distance to hold the psp and see the screen well. i have to pair my dual shock 3 when i have time.

also i am now in the hunt for a psp go cradle, this way i will be able to play on tv and charge at the same time. wish i can find one.

I have massive hands, I tried using a PSP GO, but I get cramps and is pretty annoying. I'm looking for a PSP 3000, and I think I found one. I'll see how it is, and what not.

Trying to find any PSP for a decent price. The best I could find was an extremely scratchified PSP for about $60. And that is way too much in my opinion. I'll keep looking to see if I can get a better price on a PSP.
