Hi,
i would like to inject a couple of N64 games on Wii U as i see here https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/WiiU_VC_N64_inject_compatibility_list that they work fine if injected (Mario Tennis and Ridge Race 64).
I'm truing to inject Mario Tennis (USA version) using the Mario Gold base as suggested into the link above. But i have 2 questions:

1) how can i retrieve the .ini file, as it isn't available for this game into the link above? It is present "By Nintendo". What does it mean?

2) ICON image and TV image: how can i create them? I choosed a picture on google and selected it for both ICONS and TV image and click finished, after adding title and release year. Is this correct?

"By Nintendo" means its an official Wii U VC N64 release so no need to inject that game.

there should already be a mario tennis out there on the helper or downloader. as for the other game, use the app uwuvci to inject it. the app should automatically pull the .ini file if one is available for the rom you're injecting

many thanks!
Well, a question about this step: "If there is an .ini on our server for the Inject then you will be offered to download it.".
In the past, when i injected N64 games, usually it appeared the pop up asking me to download the .ini file. But for Mario Tennis this pop up doesn't appear... so can i leave empty that field? I have an old game.ini file into this path:

But i don't know if it is correct to delete it before to inject Mario Tennis..
thanks!

I suppose that if you don't provide an ini, the one used by the base you are injecting into will be used.
This may or may not work, you can try.

Do N64 games have good support on the Wii U? I have a usb n64 controller, and when I use it with retroarch (on my pc) many times it's difficult to configure. Since most of those old games are pretty small I could probably copy and past several of my old favorites over pretty quick.

yest it owkrs, thanks!
Now i only need to inject Ridge Racer 64 as into this compatibility list it says that it is better to inject it instead of use Not64/Wii64: https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/WiiU_VC_N64_inject_compatibility_list
I have 2 little problems:

1) it request Yoshi's Story USA as base, but it isn't present into the list provided in UWUVCI: does it means that i have to create this base by myself, using Custom features? I tried to add the Yoshi's USA rom but it isn't detected, it seems that it isn't the right way to add a base:

I tried to update the base list, but yoshi's isn't added...

2) this time the ini file is present into the link above: i downloaded ti and renamed the .txt file into game.ini file. I thins that it is correct:

thank you very much!

your yoshi story wup installer files will be a folder with a bunch of .app files. once you use nus converter, it will convert that wup installer into three folders: code, content, meta. you will then need to setup the folder structure as
>yoshi Story
------>code folder
------>content folder
------>meta folder
ideally separate from the wup installer folder directory so they doesn't get crossed. you will then point uwuvci to that yoshi story folder that contains the code, content and meta folders once it asks for custom base

    @SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

    anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

    if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

    Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
    @BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
    You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
    still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
    i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
    It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
