Hi, have an R4i upgrade Revolution. Have used r4ySauto got the custom english firmware zip file. Files in folder are _DS_MENU.DAT and TTmenu. Installed onto a clean 4gb card. when inserted into dsl just shows that there is no menu, icon of sd card with menu?. used the customized version of R4YSauto on page 38 I think. Same problem Menu? icon appears. Is this software not compatible with my R4 card?

R4YSauto has depreciated in uses since there is Retrogamefan's package with pre-setup environments. Is there any particular reason why you want to have/use R4YSauto (it might be on filetrip)?
I have a weird (now obsolete and abandoned) R4i Gold from r4-pro.com which doesn't work with pretty much any firmware I try, so I'm giving this a try.
The links are dead, could you please upload them to more mirrors?
As R4YSauto only outputs working kernels for the original R4 it became obsolete with the release of Wood R4.

If you're still interested here's the latest version I uploaded to FileTrip - http://filetrip.net/...4-10-f9002.html

Thanks

R4YSauto won't be able to help you with that card. As JP suggests try one of RGF's builds.

Failing that there may be something that works (though maybe not up-to-date) on this page - http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/

Well, I've already tried those before, RGF's build didn't work at all. Linfoxdom's firmware is extremely old and doesn't solve my original issue of screwing up save files and compatability.
On a side note, I HAVE R4YSauto working. However, I receive the unsupported DLDI error when I try to load a game. Could you help me with this please? I've been trying to follow this:
http://gbatemp.net/topic/164359-guide-to-installing-uninstalling-ysmenu-on-the-r4/
and this:

Well, RGF's list says that the R4i-SDHC Revolution from www.r4-pro.com is supported (R4_Clone folder), though since you are saying R4i Gold from r4-pro.com, I'm at a loss of what the flashcart is a clone of. Supposedly, a majority of the clones should be supported at this point from YSMenu (covers most R4/TTDS clones...possibly other AK2i/M3 clones though without any ability to test that sort of stuff myself, I can only guess based on knowledge that there is YSM3 and YSMenu for the GEi).

Generally, one would try to determine what kind of clone the flashcart is (and this isn't purely based on flashcart names...but sometime the filenames in the kernel provided, though usually I just look for ttmenu.sys) and then try to build YSMenu accordingly though it isn't guaranteed to work at all.

R4YSAuto is very outdated and RGF updates should work, they contain YSMenu, well most of them.
If your really set on using R4YSAuto you might as well use a2h's YSMenu Generator instead, since it does the same thing but has a nice graphical user interface for user convenience.
It can be found here: http://gbatemp.net/topic/130359-a2hs-ysmenu-generator/

None of the included links work anymore, which leaves me wondering. did they get put on another URL or are they just gone to be forgotten about?

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
