The older (legitimate) DSTT's were glued shut. You can pry them open without breaking them if you're careful (I used an Xacto knife to get mine open). The fact that your cart was glued shut is no sign that it's a fake.
The easiest way to tell if it's a fake is to look at the front edge of the metal microSD holder in the DSTT. You can see the front edge of the holder without taking the card apart if you hold it at the right angle and view it under good lighting. If the front edge is curved, you have a real one, but if it's straight you have a fake:
Note that not all fakes look like the one on the left, nor do all real ones look like the one on the right. But all fakes apparently have the same microSD holder with the flat edge while all real ones use a microSD holder with a curved edge.
This method should work whether you have one of the old white ones that are glued shut or one of the newer ones that have a divot near the microSD slot (which I believe are not glued shut).
