I'm not digging through 258 pages to find out if this question has been asked already, but is there a way to use the circle pad instead of the directional pad? I'd perfer to use that instead of the directional pad.

In the core input options, change the "User 1 Analog to Digital" settings from None to Left Analog.

Sounds like you're missing the parent xmvsf.zip. Generally speaking, the arcade cores (CPS1, CPS2, and Neo) work on a parent/clone relationship, where the parent roms are the bigger ones and contain the majority of the program and info needed to run the game, and clones are smaller, usually containing the roms that account for regional differences and revisions.

Basically, you'll always need the parent rom, even if you intend to play a specific-region version of a game.
