I have an issue where retroarch will take about 60 seconds to load when launched from the HB menu. Once it does launch, out will take another 60 seconds to launch a game. If I quit the game and launch another game, same thing, takes another minute to load.

Someone on reddit reported the same problem. I was able to fix it in the past by reinstalling retroarch, but it reverted back. Has anyone else came across this issue?

I once had this issue where after I downloaded the thumbnails for all the games for all the various consoles, RetroArch would take forever to load. And I think it was due to the sheer amount of files it had to read on the mSD card. Once I deleted them, it ran normally again.
Not sure if that might be the issue for you.
