Select Best Buy locations will be hosting Smash Bros. Ultimate demo events

Nintendo and Best Buy have partnered up before, to allow fans to play select games at demo kiosks prior to release, and it seems the tradition will continue with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Ten United States Best Buy locations will be setting up demo units later this month, and into October, where you'll be able to try out the game before its December 7th release. If you live in California, Washington, Texas, New York, or the other listed states, you might want to see if one of the events is near your area. Small prizes will also be given out to those that play the demo.

I know what that's like lol. Every time, every time they pick Dallas, when Houston's the major city here. #hugecityproblems
Well for new york, Manhattan is the major part of the state, not Bronx. Still there is enough stuff here to go around and plenty of stores here. Just no one ever gives attention to them probably cause they share the building with other stores rather than just owning it's own building.

Back when 3DS released, they had a demo units of the system in the New York Grand Terminal Station which is not really a place for advertising games, but many people do have small side stores there which so I guess wasn't the worst place. I figured at least nintendo world or gamestop something relevant unlike best buy which isn't entirely about games. Guess in hindsight it means more people than just gamers will see it. :ninja:

I can expect two things from this...
1) someone on 4chan is going to claim that they work at Best Buy and somehow “got”the game and “dumped” the contents
2) someone actually will get the game and dump the contents and share on 4chan

Either way, there will be “leaks.”

I'm glad the US is the only country, otherwise others would feel left out.

Really how hard is it to host this at SEVERAL locations?

Glad I got to play 4 rounds at E3.

It's like that one scene from TMNT with the burnout building with the arcade machines. Except it'll be Best Buy and SSBU. So, basically the same thing.

PS - Yea, I don't care either. Only really care about SSBM since I play it with my BIL. Just like Mario Kart (which we should play more).

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
