could a missing bootmii (IOS) be the problem?

It depends on how you're launching it. If you're using the neek2o or nSwitch channels then BootMii is not required. The ARM loader code is embedded in the binary for those.

Nintendo's official information says most SD and SDHC cards below either 64 or 32 GB should work. It doesn't mention capacities above that or SDXC.

The latest neek2o available when downloading from ModMii does work with either SD or USB but it does NOT work properly unless the NAND files are in a /nands/ folder. You will end up with a flashing blue light and the console trying to create NAND directories on the root of the drive. Unfortunately this is what happens when people don't release source for something they're working on. You either end up with something that only works in certain configurations or doesn't work at all and nobody else can fix it.

I redid the complete modmii tutorial now and updated the wii softmod. I now want to get priiloader updated aswell, because modmii only got v 0.7 instead of the newest 0.81.
Launching 0.81 from HBC does not update it. it shows a screen "...ion" I cannot really get displayed fully, but rebooting results in still having v. 0.7.
Do you know how I can update priiloader?
maybe it has something to do with why I cannot get neek2o running. not even through nswitch channel or "bootmii".

They are not related. NEEK requires what everyone is saying. First partition, MBR, primary and FAT32. You are missing one of those requirements or your drive is incompatible.

neek2o/NEEK does not depend on any IOSes or anything else other than the filesystem. It is a patched system menu that redirects all file access from the NAND to either SD or USB.

Well the new hard drive works pretty well, sneek/uneek/sneek-di boot and work fine, uneek-di freezes when i try to bring up the di menu. I'm starting to suspect sneek doesn't like certain IOS's in the 50s. LEGO harry potter used IOS 56 I think and would either freeze the system menu while trying to load it, or if i start the wii with it selected, black screen with no blinks after selecting it. Dead Space Extraction I'm trying right now uses IOS 53 and is demonstrating the same behavior. That seems to be the common thread between them.
Same...

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
