The SNES Mini has different versions of Canoe. You can use "canoe-shvc --version" via command line to see whats installed or look at /etc/clover/version/canoe via FTP. Options are:

  • kernel-dp-shvc-release-v2.0.12-0-gbff4fb3.img
  • kernel-dp-shvc-release-v2.0.14-0-gd8b65c6.img

  • kernel-dp-sneseur-release-v2.0.14-0-gd8b65c6.img

SNES Classic VersionCanoe Version
v2.0.72.2.0426.0
v2.0.122.3.0529.0
v2.0.132.3.0531.0
v2.0.142.3.0531.0

So it seems they were constantly fine tuning it with 14.0 being the last version for all hardware. I recently upgraded mine and it feels very responsive but I can't say if thats placebo as I never used it much. Try it out and let me know.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
