Hey guys. I'm a newbie to wii u hacking but I've spent the night and read plenty of tutorials and seems pretty simple to get it all going. Only question I wanted to check is I have 2 x Wii U Consoles (premium and a basic) and updated both consoles to latest firmware tonight, both consoles use the same nintendo eshop account currently so I downloaded brain training on premium and loaded it up and then when I loaded basic and went to brain training it already said downloaded so I chose download agan. Loaded it up fine on my basic console too. Is this fine to do the haxchi install etc with it like this? Or do I have to use seperate eshop accounts and buy the game on the white seperately.

(Hope what I posted made sense)

Thanks

If you are able to download and run it on both, you're already past the purchasing part and you have a ticket on both consoles. You can proceed, but just to be sure, I'd go into the eShop on both again and make sure that both can still run the game when you get out before you think about installing CBHC (if you were even going to.)

Strange. I didn't think Nintendo let you use the account on more than one WiiU at a time.

Hello :-) I wish to thank all and every person that made this possible! :D

I've been getting ready to hack my lovable black Wii U but I there are two issues not clarified completely:
1. If I install the Mocha cfw I have not access to the vWii on it, right? So, how can I run vWii then - can I switch to my normal fw, like sysnand, and have fun there or MUST I have Haxchi in order to have access to vWii too?
2. Mocha and Haxchi cfws require an SD card with lots of space but they do not occupy the whole of it, right? How much space do these cfws occupy from their respective 64 and 32 gb (for my black Wii U) requirements and how much is there free for me to store my games on? (I don't see me using a usb external hdd any time soon).

Feel free to redirect me anywhere these questions are answered. I apologise if I did miss such threads. Thank you!

Mocha offers redNAND as an OPTION. Unless you can explain to someone why you need redNAND, you don't need it. Using Mocha itself doesn't preclude vWii.

Mocha's redNAND option would use "32GB" (not exact), but Mocha and Haxchi themselves are very small. Haxchi doesn't even need an SD after it's installed if you're using it just for the CFW/sysmenu/sigpatches function (but most people want to be able to execute homebrew with it too, so then it needs the SD)

There are threads for both Mocha and Haxchi (Haxchi faq)

Uh really?

I better double check as I haven't used these consoles since like 2013 or 14. But considering the 2nd one already showed downloaded I think they must be same account

It's wupinstaller. WUDs are disc images. Since you're going to install legitimate games (ones with disc tickets), and not DLC or eShop games, you don't need signature patching, even during install. Browser -> HBL -> wupinstaller.

The friend won't have to do anything except run the games.

So what happens if I have dlc for a game I own, Can I get that for a ripped game?
If you've bought DLC for one of your disc games, just install the ripped/downloaded game to the same device (system or USB) that the DLC is on and try it. If you don't have the expected DLC items, obtain the DLC encrypted files using JNUSTool, WiiU USB Helper, or FunkiiU, remove the title.tik from the files you downloaded (if it's there), and reinstall the DLC to that same device using wupinstaller.

Sounds good. Thanks. Will I have to run mocha each time to use it?

No. You're using your existing legitimate ticket, which doesn't need CFW. If you leave a fake title.tik in the DLC files you downloaded (like the one that will be there if you download with WiiU USB Helper), then yes, you'd need Mocha (or you have to fix your tickets, which can be a little complicated.)

Since the WiiU console subforum has no sticky thread that I can hijack, I guess I just try asking here

If you reset your WiiU, is it still possible to redownload all eshop games that previously installed to this system?
And is it safe to reset WiiU that has been installed with Haxchi? Not CHBC, just plain simple Haxchi

If you purchased the games from the eShop, even if the format process removes the ticket sfrom your console (which I don;t thinkit does) you can just re-download the program and the eShop will give you the ticket. (assuming you bought the software).

If you're using a disc ticket (Brazilian Method) or fakesigned ticket (requires CFW to run) then you can just re-install the content later.

Removing a standard Haxchi program is completely safe, in fact, that's how you're supposed to get rid of it.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
