YAWMM doesn't work for me, I get the black screen of death (scary, because I needed to turn off the WiiU by disconnecting it from power). After many, many tries with wad managers, I got the wads installed using "Some YAWMM Mod", for some reason this worked.

Hey guys, I am having an issue with USB Load GX. It will either freeze while initializing the drive, or it will turn on but not mount my drive. I tried with a Seagate Backup Plus Portable Drive and a WD Elements. Both with the Y cable.

I was wondering if anyone found a solution to this problem? I have a very similar situation where I need to first load USB Loader GX with IOS 58, then change the IOS to 249, exit USB Loader GX, plug in my HDD (Seagate with Y cable) and relaunch USB Loader GX. After these steps I can see all my games (gamecube and wii) and everything works fine.

Here is a breakdown of the different scenarios:

1
a) I keep the drive plugged in.
b) Start USB Loader GX with Loader's IOS set to 58
c) USB Loader GX will start fine but the drive will not mount.

2
a) Keep the drive plugged in.
b) Start USB Loader GX with Loader's IOS set toIOS 249
c) USB Loader GX will crash while loading the drive.
d) Need to then unplug the Wii U because holding the power button does not work.

3
a) Unplug the drive.
b) Start USB Loader GX with Loader's IOS set to IOS 58.
c) Change the IOS to 249 in the settings and exit to the Homebrew Channel.
d) Plug the HDD and start USB Loader GX.
e) USB Loader GX loads fine and show all my games.

4
a) Keep the drive plugged in.
b) Change the hard drive settings such that USB Loader GX does not mount the drive on start and set the Loader's IOS set to IOS to 249.
c) Start USB Loader GX, it will not crash because it is not mounting the drive.
d) Go in the settings and mount the drive manually.
e) At this point it either works and all my games show up, or USB Loader GX hangs and does not let me get out of the menu.

Method 3 works fine, but it is very annoying to have to plug and unplug the drive every time as well as having to change the IOS in the settings. I wonder if this could be because of the type of portable hdd I am using? Maybe I need to get a drive that connects directly to an AC source?

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong?

I am aware the links weren't working. Trust me, I've been trying to sort out the massive amount of f***ery Google has done to my shareable files. I think things should be back up and working again. Glad to see this taken down from stickies, though. I'm 100% sure there are better ways to do this now.

Hi There,
I'm new to Wii/Wii U, and I want to be rude. I'm just wondering that do we still need to hack vWii to achieve something? I thought Wii U CFW can do everything already.
Cheers,

You can use injections for Wii or Gamecube games, from the wiiu side, without any modifications to the vWii.

You won't be able to use any usb loader though. It's a matter of preferences: a few selected titles vs a massive list mostly shovelware.

Thank you, do you think it worth buying an individual Wii now?

Sorry I misinterpreted you.

If you already have a wiiu, modding the vWii is quite easy. The recommended guide is this one https://wiiu.hacks.guide/#/vwii-modding

I say again, if your're interested in only a few Wii or GC games, injection would be a simpler choice. You won't need another HDD too. See teconmoon or uwuvci injectors for that.

Homebrew Channel is not showing a single solitary app I've tried put on it. Yes my sd card is formatted properly. yes it is working. yes the wii is reading it. Nothing is showing up just a blank menu. At this point I give up! I'm so so fucking done!

Is this guide good for firmware 5.5.5? I want to make sure because the last one I tried every time I loaded an app in vWii my tv would go black.

This is an amazingly well written and detailed guide. I was setting up Nintendont and was searching for a way to use the vWii properly.
