Apple Unlock Telus iPhone 4 for Virgin mobile?

My friend lost her iPhone 4, so she's getting another one.
She's getting a Telus iPhone from some guy, so she wants to unlock it to use it with virgin mobile.
I'm aware of the lack of exploits for newer basebands and whatnot, but I'm wondering if the phone is unlocked, if virgin mobile will even be able to be put on it?

Isn't Virgin Mobile a CDMA company? If so, the only way to get an iPhone running on it is to wait for flashing tools to be released for the Verizon iPhone.
