I just installed Ferrox Standard 4.82 CFW by using the exploit method on 4.82. Thereafter I installed Ferrox Standard Edition, but I read that to be able to play PS2 dumps you need the COBRA version.

Can I install the COBRA version over the Standard version via the update option in the XMB of will I brick my device?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can install CFW over CFW just fine (in fact, the (practical) consequence of having installed that flash-482 file was to install a CFW, although a jerry-rigged one without any special features apart from unsigned updates)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you also need something like QA Toggle before installing a CFW over a CFW (especially when "downgrading" a firmware). So look if that is there in the Ferrox you are using. If not, there is the Habib QA Toggle, but rebug.me also have one (https://rebug.me/toggle-qa/). And why not consider installing Rebug 4.82.2 if you are going to a CFW with Cobra? Hope it works out alright for you!
