UPDATE:
Brad Smith, Microsoft's president, has tweeted out about the confusion regarding the titles which will be shared on Nintendo consoles, clarifying that it's only Call of Duty and not other Xbox titles like his original tweet made it believe:

Original post:
Microsoft's president, Brad Smith, has announced that Microsoft signed off a 10-year agreement to bring Xbox titles to Nintendo consoles, like the Call of Duty franchise, which was announced some months ago as well. With this deal, Microsoft aims to bring content and feature parity to all of the titles released across both Xbox and Nintendo, which means the same game on either console will have the same content.

Nintendo users might recall back in the Wii era that games of the Call of Duty franchise on their console had a huge amount of content absent from their version, primarily all of the DLC for each and every COD game release on the Wii, some maps being absent and smaller maps/online matches. This even extended to some of the WiiU titles as well when it comes to missing DLC that the other main releases in Xbox and PlayStation had throughout their lifespan.

With this, It's great news for Nintendo gamers that wish to have a whole new range of titles to play, which were previously Xbox exclusives, and Call of Duty fans can now relive their old online matches from the Wii and Wii U era back once Microsoft starts rolling out new COD titles with content parity for Nintendo consoles.

Title says "Xbox games," but the announcement specifically only mentions Call of Duty, and I've only seen it reported as CoD elsewhere too.
yup, its specifically about cod. the only thing mentioning xbox games in general is the brad smith tweet

Brad Smith's tweet mentions "Xbox games", even saying "and Activision titles like Call of Duty".
It's hard to tell though if they specifically refer to CoD only.

could be an agreement that stipulates Call of Duty specifically but also leaves the door open for negations for other series as well, on a case-by-case basis? or agreement to begin discussions on other series, but to be completed in separate negotiations? or something like that.

Personally, I want my diddy kong racing! Not the terrible one for the DS, I want my original! with Banjo! Or even better, a proper sequel! Get on it, Y'all! Not that it'll happen, but a hominid can dream.

Yeah people asked about it in the Twitter thread with no response. Gonna assume it's just CoD until we get clarification, because otherwise such an announcement would have major implications for the future of Xbox hardware.

Honestly couldn't give less of a crap about the graphics. If the game is fun, who the hell cares. And if you do care more for graphics than gameplay then why the hell are you playing games.
i mean, not all games can be like Minecraft ;)

i care about both
bad graphics won't stop me from playing a game the same way bad gameplay will but it ultimately sours the experience. Not to mention nintendo's issue isn't JUST terrible graphics as much as it is terrible performance. Playing video games at 20fps is not pleasant. It's why i can't stand playing Ocarina of Time on the N64

anyways this is a certified W for both parties involved. If the FTC getting on Microsoft's ass means more Rare titles and Halo on Switch there's nothing to complainn about here. Just hope that it isn't JUST Call of Duty yall are getting....

I see it as Nintendo needs cloud gaming to get better graphics on their console and MS has the tech. Nintendo could use Nvidia cloud tech since they already work with them for chips, but maybe it is better to go with MS because they have games to work in to the deal. I still don't see how MS can sign a deal to sell a product they don't even own yet. COD could just be a bonus to the whole cloud gaming theory.

It'd be fun to see Microsoft poking at Nintendo to do the same, but we all know how much of a selfish piece of shit pricks they are so they won't do it :P
Are you dumb or pretend to be? Comparing third parties games to main games, theyre using new bought company ip not their original ones, nintendo might use some non main nintendo games .its like sony, they might let you try destiny but never god of war or uncharted

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
