[Update] The new Pokemon rumors (Let's go Eevee/Pikachu)

It's nearing E3 once more, which means rumors at in full force. And with a Pokemon title inevitably on the horizon, Pokemon rumors are flooding news and discussion sites. Once more, we find ourselves questioning what's real or fake.

Back on April Fools, there was a post made on 4chan. Such things from there are always assumed to be a meme or fake post. Based_AF Media also further confirmed the 4chan post, but it should be known that they are a relatively unheard of news site, possibly looking for easy hits.

This "leak" states that the upcoming game would be a Yellow remake, and would have Pokemon Go integration.

Emily Rogers further fueled the fire by hinting at the name of the games potentially having some link to the mobile title Pokemon GO, and that mainline Pokemon and Pokemon Go could benefit from each other.

SoulCalibur V would be out for the Wii U: FALSE
Nintendo would launch a huge quirky shooter for the Wii U: TRUE (Splatoon)
Smash would be on Switch and launch 2018: TRUE
Nintendo and Ubisoft were making a strategy game: TRUE (M & R Kingdom Battle)
Pokemon and Pikmin 4 would launch before March 2018: FALSE
Mother 3 would be ported to the Wii U: FALSE (We did get Earthbound Beginnings though)
Female Link would be playable in BOTW: FALSE
GameCube Virtual Console would be a reveal at E3 2017: FALSE
BOTW would be pushed back for simul Wii U/Switch release: TRUE

Twitter user "Nibel" also Retweeted the image of the supposed logo, giving further credence. Nibel's rumor history includes correctly guessing that there would be a new Insomniac Games Spiderman title, the existence of a PS4 Pro (at the time, codeword Neo), and a Catherine remake for Vita/PS4. Nibel has also claimed that Retro is working on yet another Donkey Kong Country game for the Switch, but this one is still unverified.

Translated, the text in the Logo translates to "Let's Go Pikachu!", once more adding onto the idea of a Pokemon Yellow remake. Even more ridiculously, an image from a few months earlier made its rounds on the internet, showing what appeared to just be a slightly edited image of Sun/Moon. In it...you can see none other than an Eevee perched onto the trainer's head. This corroborates the Let's go Eevee! part of the rumor over at 4chan. Plus the part about Sun/Moons HMs-replaced-by-Pokemon, as well.

Then we have something a bit more vague. Twitter user PixelPar uploaded a video saying he'd been hinting the whole time at this, through little drawings of Pokemon Yellow he'd been doing up to the official announcement of the game.

EDIT:

The day after this was written, an entity has claimed the domain names for both of the game's names. Not only that, but one of Kotaku's lead writers also followed up on the Pokemon Go portion of the rumor:

The domain owner has previously registered Pokemon game names in the past, as well. Nintendo isn't mentioned anywhere within the documents, though, which deviates from previous domain registrations, where they've always been named as the owner in some form. And now the Official Pokemon JP site is heavily using both Pikachu and Eevee in marketing.

And, as of right now, that's everything involving this specific rumor. What do you think? Real? Fake? Is this the equivalent of Rayman in Smash once more?

A good reason to be skeptical, though if it's legit, that might be an early alpha screenshot of Pokemon for all we know.
I dunno the leaps in graphical fidelity were always small for Pokemon games. Only exception would've been Gen 5 to 6 imo. I wouldn't be surprised if they went for a USUM look for this game but in HD and hopefully stable framerate.

Yeah TBH I'd prefer 60 FPS and more simplistic graphics if I had the option. Finally we might get silky smooth battle animations.

I find that since the Fairy type it is increasingly difficult for me to get hyped about Pokémon leaks.

I'll buy the game and play it to completion. Doesn't mean I will like it.

All I cared about in Pokémon was exploring, capturing, breeding, and battles. Those 4 aspects are the core of the game. Those 4 aspects should always remain.

If the tripcode doesn't match up. I wouldn't trust it at all.

Yeah, In any case everyone is thinking that this could be the week for announcements, tday or wednesday.
Leakers in the past confirmed that the announcement is before the end of may, so... we're very close to it.

Good Write-up, I personaly wouldn't mind if this was real, but the Pokemon Go intergression better not interfere with the battle mechanics too much else I'm gonna be a sour sammy on release.

I've been a Pokemon fan from the first game release in the US, and beaten every game since. But if mainline Pokemon shifts toward Go to capitalise on its popularity, I quit. Go sucks balls as both a Pokemon experience and as a game in general.

Agreed bunch of sellouts IF they take the Pokemon GO route.

I also think GO is pretty disengaging.

But I wonder how this supposedly ties into Kanto again since it's rumored to be related(remake?) of yellow. Will Red/Blue be the MC's? Or is this going to be a 'xx years later' and Red is going to be on some mountain doing some hardcore champion training as some post game battle tree lvl 100 sort of challenge and it ends up taking takes place after Alola?

If true, I think this whole Pokemon GO thing will probably work like Pokewalkers. You can transfer Pokemon to and from the Pokemon GO app and they can get stronger by you walking around or battling Pokemon GO gyms or something. It'll be inconsequential if it's just an extra side thing like Pokewalkers were.

Honestly, Pokemon GO compatibility sounds like a nifty little idea, and a good gateway for perhaps more casual Pokemon fans to come back into the fold with the new mainline releases. I'm just curious how this will work, and how they'll go about converting stats from GO into mainline Pokemon stats, and vice versa.

I doubt that GO will have much impact on the battle system in mainline Pokemon games, though. Heck, it takes several generations just to get minor changes to said system even made, and Game Freak has never been one to throw all of their core mechanics out the window; they save that for stuff like the Battle Frontier.

its gonna be randomly generated with perhaps the tiniest chance that high level could cause better chances for high stats. or not.

also, i feel like people might be expecting a little too much here, this could very well be a hey you pikachu-esque spin off

I doubt this is anything towards the leaks, but project Eevees Twitter just posted this:
https://twitter.com/project_eevee/status/1000743691437395969?s=19

It says something along the lines of it's been a long day and to prepare for tomorrow. I wonder if there really will be more information released about the game(s) before May ends.
