i followed wii.guide/ to softmod my Wii installing everything correctly and didn't miss a step.

when trying to open/play game (WII ROM) through USBLOADERGX the screen goes black for a few seconds and then returns me back to the homebrew channel. ive tried it with two games both being wbsf files under 4GB but both had the same result. ive made sure to create a wbsf file - gamename [gameid] - gameid.wbsf on my HDD. i made sure the HDD was plugged into 0 port on the back of the WII. im using a Seagate Expansion 1TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 which too my knowledge is compatible according too this website : wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/USB_Devices_Compatibility_List

ive made sure too when i was in USBLOADERGX to try and see if the games work when the games are forced to run in either ISO 249, 250 and 251 but each when had the same result with both games.

ive ran a syscheck (i believe its called that) and these are the results:

So far everything is correct, but its often tricky to get a external drive correctly work with a USB Loader.
  • Use a Y-Cable to power the drive, plug it temporary in a external powersupply with minimum 2A.
  • Else: Format the drive to MBR with fat32. Use Usb loader GX version 1272 or 1272 mod7. They support using ios 58 as loader ios (need to be set) and plug only the drive in port 0 or 1. You might also install in slot 251 a base 58 with dx2 patch for use as game ios.

If u run usb loader gx through the wii channel or HBC (press 1 for hdd) it can on fat32 SD or fat32 hdd. Need to set in the loader settings under "custom path".

First leave it like it is (SD standart) until everything works fine.
Then If u like to run the gx loader from hdd, go to the "custom path" there can be set each path and the location to be on SD and changed to HDD.

As for your issue, make sure to check the hash of your Wii games (wbfs or iso) in WiiBackupmanager, it's under tools in the top banner. Once they're verified and it tells you they're not corrupted, you can transfer them to the hdd.
In what format is your hdd? Make sure it's Fat32 32kb (use Guiformat), and is set to MBR (not GPT), and with 1 primary partition. You can check all these under Disk Management (in Windows), or some other software like AOMEI Partition Assistant..
