GCN Using 2 Broadband adapters - JP Console and US Console?

Hey, so I'm wondering if anyone would happen to know the answer as it doesn't seem to have any say online about it. If you have 2 broadband adapters and 2 consoles with their respective regions version of say Mario Kart: Double Dash; would they be able to play together through LAN? Main reason is price as a copy of DD can go for a decent amount as opposed to $20 +shipping for some Japanese copies of the game. A very niche issue but if it'll save me a buck then it'd be cool!
