For Cytus songs i'm using Hard mode as Normal TriaAl mode and Easy Mode as Easy TriaAl mode.

Finally solved all the sound issues related to lpp-3ds (:toot:).

It means i'm going to restart working on TriaAl.
What's needed for a first version is:
- Better note triggering system (current ones has some game-breaking bugs)
- Add a 6th song.

If someone wants to help developing, a good 6th song converted with the Debugger (see first post) it's really appreciated.

Last song is coming, it will be Reflection (Mirror Night) by V.K from standard DeeMo music pack:

I'm currently working hard on TriaAl to try to finish a fully playable version before year ends (but free time is few).

Due to technical issues found with dsp service, i decided to add Bliss from Ken Arai instead of announced Reflection (Mirror Night) [I have mapped this song like 2 months ago but i had decide to not release it due to copyright but i found a harsh way to use them so why not?]

Anyway new technical issues need to be solved and notes triggering system need to be improved before release.

CURRENT STATUS:

Hello again,
few hours ago i asked for a splashscreen for a new game homebrew i'm developing (http://gbatemp.net/threads/need-a-splashscreen-for-a-future-homebrew.381492/) so why not introducing it officially?

As the title says, i'm working on a DeeMo clone for 3DS.
If you don't know DeeMo, it's a killer app for Smartphone developed by Rayark Games (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rayark.pluto&hl=it).
It's a music game similar to Rock Band Unplugged / Guitar Hero but with a personal look and style and with only Piano songs (It provides also a storyline about an immaginary pianist called Deemo).

This clone will be called TriaAl and i'm focusing on trying to remake all DeeMo functionality (some features will be impossible to port on 3DS cause multitouch lack).

I made also two video showing TriaAl but take this videos as a PrePrePrePrePreAlpha:

Actually TriaAl features:
- Multi-difficulty system
- Local record system
- Point system similar to DeeMo ones
- Preview for musics
- Different speed mode support
- Support to Custom WAV musics
- Built-in Debug Mode for generating notes table easily for custom musics (i use it also for "official" musics <.< )

I want to add a lot of features, for now these are my planned goals:
- Better notes triggering system
- Adding Hold notes support (Yellow ones on DeeMo) (Achieved: 14/02/15)
- Adding a download server for downloading songs directly from TriaAl
- Improving Graphic with a fake-3D effect like original DeeMo
- Different speeds mode support (Achieved: 14/02/15)
- Adding an online record system
- Adding different gameplay types (Maybe a Cytus [ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rayark.Cytus.full&hl=it ] ones? (Yes, i love Rayark Games works :P))
I want to know your opinions about TriaAl, suggest me what you want to see inside it.

Oh, and yes, it's made with lpp-3ds as always :P

EDIT:
If you're curious about Debug Mode so: this is current config file for Dream that you can see in the video:
Code:
-------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------- TriaAl Song File ----------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------
-- Notes arguments: -----------------------------------------
-- 1: Time to be tapped (in milliseconds) -------------------
-- 2: Normal note (false = Hold note) -----------------------
-- 3: Space apparition --------------------------------------

            {112745, true, 3}
            }
end

As you can see, it provides some basic info about the song and the notes table.
With TriaAl built-in debug mode you can launch a music without game starting and then generating a file with a list of milliseconds whenever you press Y (so if you press Y after 4325 milliseconds song starts, it will be registered in a txt file) so after this, you have just to select for each note the showing column and the hold note setting.
You are my favorite homebrew developer!!thx again for all you time and efforts

I would really like to see a game that is executed this well but with hard rock/metal music instead of pianos (I don't play with sound anymore after hearing like one or two songs). I know what I am thinking of is already a made game, but not on any mobile device really. what might be interesting is if you can import your own songs with like a midi file and audio files (just an idea).

Also, am I the only one here who plays games like this like a keyboard instead of just tapping with one finger?

Deemo is definitely my favorite mobile game of all time so for someone to have made a port of it for the 3DS is astounding and absolutely amazing. Thanks so much for making this Rinnegatamante, I'd love to help in any way I can. I saw some unanswered requests from a year ago, but I don't know if you still need those same things. I have experience in graphic design and such at the least so I could help pretty it up a bit possibly. Maybe even note coordination, I have played the game so much I could probably do it without listening to the song (I won't try that though).

Graphic is quite "basic" for now and it lacks a good amount of songs (there are only 6 songs). It also has some minor bug to be fixxed before release (game-breaking bugs).
If you want to help, porting songs is the best way i think.

Sure thing. I'll look into your application and such for porting in songs once I get a bit of free time.

lpp-3ds won't support midi files for a long time so TriaAl too. Atm, TriaAl supports wav, ogg and aiff files with a lua "notemap".
.ogg files work (gh customs audio usually come as .ogg files, but I really want to see something like this, its just that I'm more of a fan of like rock/metal music instead.) (not that i'm obliging you or anything, just my opinion on it.)

Whatever kind of song can be ported to TriaAl.

At the moment there are 6 songs (3 Piano songs. 2 Dance Songs and 1 HipHop Song):

- Dream by Rabpit (From DeeMo)
- Wings of Piano by V.K. (From DeeMo)
- Light up my Love by Ani. feat Moco (From Cytus)
- Lights by Jim Yosef (NoCopyrightSounds song)
- Prismatic Lollipop by DJ Mashiro (From Cytus)
- Bliss by Ken Arai (Kiseijuu Anime song) [This last one i don't know if will be public cause copyright]

I'd like to add more Deemo songs, my friend has to trial version so I can ask him to send me the song list in there because I forgot how many songs are in it.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60
