Progress is still happening, and you can check on that progress here. It will be done when it's done. If you're using CFW on your Switch already, you're almost certainly using parts of Atmosphere.

Edit: Aside from signature patching, it already has a lot of the major features a person would want from a Switch CFW.
I see. What's the thing about signature patching?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

So you didn't read the discussion thread about atmosphere then?
That thread is about 133 pages, you know. That's why i'm asking for a summary about the situation. :)

Atmosphere is still being developed, and most of it is functional.

If you are using Hekate or SX OS almost everything involved is Atmosphere. The target date was June 15th, but target is not the same as release, developing stuff like this takes time, and is unpredictable.

Read the last 10 pages. It'll take you 10 minutes

If a CFW uses OS patches to prevent signature checks, then we can do things like run titles that we've manually installed. For example, we could install DevMenu or a homebrew application directly to the home menu, like one can do on the 3DS. It's a basic feature that's surprisingly absent at this stage of development.

Edit: It's a feature that's probably absent because it could/would lead to installing pirated game titles like one would do with games in CIA format on the 3DS. That doesn't make it any less of a basic feature.

Oh it's about piracy then, ok. Thank you

Signature check patches don't enable you to install dev apps, they are dev encrypted, retail Switches don't have the keys to decrypt them. You first need to reencrypt them with retail keys, a process that right now is only possible by modifying SDK tools. (and it has still not been achieved)

I've read the whole things and still have no idea about atmosphere current state. But everyone are, apparently, retarded.

It is not hard to figure out how far AMS is in development, Github literally has the source publicly posted with commits almost every day.

https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/projects

Secondly, you are already using all the functional parts of AMS in Hekate / SX (LayeredFS, Custom Loader, Exosphere* etc.)

In principle, there are several ways around that problem. The main hurdle is the signature patches. In other words, we can't talk about which kinds of illegitimate titles can be installed without first solving the problem that prevents all illegitimate titles from being installed.

True, it's part of the larger picture and solves the issue of illicit* signatures or unsigned apps, but it by itself does not enable us to install / run everything we want.

Quantumcat it's not off topic why don't you just close the thread? It's inherently off topic as there's a big main thread where everyone can be directed to yes? Don't mean to be rude but am a fan of keeping all info in one place.
