Question What purpose does Edge of Forum serve?

I don't understand to be honest. What games do people play on a forum? Or why is it called that? I see lots of topics there that range from very uncommon to just sharing opinions. So i just really have trouble understanding. If i was to create a topic here what would fit into there that the other categories don't cover.

Forum games are things like Corrupt-a-wish where you post something and kind of play a game. It's actually rather fun to play forum games and interact that way, but I notice more shitposting in there than anything serious.
