Sources say it's just for the Internet Channel. Others say that when a modded Wii upgrades to 3.1U, Reggie is sent to the location of the modded Wii and will beat the crap out of anyone in the console's vicinity.

The only visible changes to 3.1E/U is meant to be that you can click links in the Message Board, which also updates with Opera so now you can use the USB Keyboard in that.

The Firmware update doesn't seem to change anything but who knows, the Opera and Voting Channel updates though arn't working yet for some reason.

Edit: Update is complete. The Everyone Votes channel is working and the so is the Internet channel. Back ups work. I'm using Wiikey which is updated to 1.9b. I say its a safe bet to update.

Maybe the update adds something in for NeoGeo?

I recall it not having 480p support and the suspend function wasn't working, anyone who has a NeoGeo VC want to test that? (I dont have any wii points to test myself)

I grew some balls and I can confirm that people with dual channels can update their Wii safely. All channels work, doesn't stop backup wii games, including region converted backups. BTW, I could only update internet channel but not vote channel. Servers must be busy

I can confirm. Backups are working fine. However, USB keyboard still doesn't work in internet channel, have no clue who said that it did.

Second, what I feel like is different is the IR in the pointer, it seems somewhat smoother and more precise now.

1.3 Config disc still seems to be working fine.

Update - details

- USB keyboard compatible
- links received on the Wii message board now open in Internet Channel
- can send links to friends
- can copy text from the page being viewed and paste it into a search
