Not too much, unfortunately. I re-did some graphics to put them more in-line with Taiko V's translation, plus cleaned some stuff up but no new major additions. I was thinking about releasing a new patch, but all it would add is the English song names for the bottom song select screen and some minor stuff here and there.
Story mode is still, unfortunately, a long way out. I haven't had the time to really hunt for someone willing to translate the story segments, items, enemy names, and so on. @shiduyo and I are still working on V here and there, but there are some issues with it's font that are preventing us from making any huge leaps in progress.
If you guys are really super hungry for the update, I can whip something up, but as of right now there isn't too much to talk about! Sorry!
I don't know when the next stable release will be, but the latest hourly commit of Luma3DS fixes local multiplayer! It works now on non Japanese systems, hooray!
Here's a video of it in action!
Honestly the multiplayer mode isn't as fun as V Version's approach, but it is still a nice addition. Hopefully I'll be able to get working on the menus for it soon and get another patch out!
Okay! So instead of making a long video rambling and stuff, I'll make a long post rambling instead.
So I have a bunch of cool stuff to show off. Since my last post, I started working on the multiplayer menu and also went to fix a few things. Here's the results!
First is the multiplayer stuff.
Now there are some things some of you will notice about the multiplayer bits. Some areas have text running out of bounds, and some have text not showing up at all. I know why the text is running out of bounds, that one is a simple fix, but the areas where some of the text isn't showing at all is what is bugging me. I have tried to adjust the message accordingly by shortening the amount of characters displayed, removing certain punctuation, and so on, but nothing seems to fix it on my end. Below is the code for the .dat file that corresponds to the multiplayer menu if anyone wants to take a look. Hopefully it is just something I am missing!
Code:

Now here is some story mode menu updates!
I translated some of the menu tips that display on the bottom screen when you hover over an option. Unfortunately, the same issue with some missing text persists here, too. I won't make this post any longer by including that .dat file though. I also translated the map displays, and again, there is the text runoff issue, but only on the top screen. The bottom screen is showing everything just fine.
All costume names and color options are now translated! Descriptions for both the normal mode and story mode aren't yet though.
Then last but not least, are some small fixes and adjustments to make the translation a little more in-line with V Version's.
Main things you'll see here is that modifier descriptions are now better aligned and re-translated to match Taiko V. The "SPIRIT" text on top of the spirit gauge is also now included, and the drumroll notes are fixed, no longer having a "-T!!" at the end of them.
Aaaand that's all for now! I am working as hard as I can on my own to do some of this stuff now since I just got a job so I'll likely be more busy in the upcoming weeks. It is worth noting that we still need translators for the story mode! Once everything else is fixed up and looking pretty, I will definitely need some more people on board to help with the story mode translation. I have done everything so far by nagging @shiduyo for some small stuff and using some common sense/machine translation stuff for the small bits, but I won't be able to do that for the story mode. If you're interested in helping, please leave a reply or send me a PM!
Also, in slightly related news, LayeredFS via BootNTR is no longer working very well on my end, so I have resorted back to rebuilding the ROMFS each time I want to test stuff. This is a bit more time consuming, as you all probably know, so some stuff is being checked slower than before. Luckily, the latest hourlies of Luma have baked in ROMFS loading now, so that makes things a bit easier than loading through HANS. Once the next version of Luma stable is released and the next version of this patch is released, I will be revising the instructions on the patch page accordingly.
But anyways, hopefully this is some good news for those of you following for updates! I don't really know when the next patch will be ready, but hopefully soon™!
Happy new year as well guys! Hopefully Taiko continues to get some love this year too!
OK so i solved my old problem by finding a prepatched cia
but now my DLC doesn't work. I have luma and set the right option and made the folder
found a dlc cia and imported it, but the game says that it can't read the content.
So it obviously knows something is there but its just missing something

Are you running the latest stable version of Luma or the latest nightly of luma? There was a change in where the locale file was placed, so there is a chance that could be the issue.
Hi, I'm here to tell about a youtuber who does Taiko 3ds Walkthroughs. Each video, he gives a short translation of what's happening. He sounds like he knows Japanesse and English. I'll try to look for him but if you can find you he'll be a big help.
I need some help since I'm not sure what's going on here. Since Luma got the native patch running in 7.0 I decided I'd switch from NTR. Now, Jikuu Daibouken works just fine natively and was simply a matter of transferring over the files and then trying to play it, however Mystery Adventure runs into some issues. As soon as the game starts it's in English, but once it gets past the "Checking for additional content" phase it shifts completely to Japanese. The only things left translated after this point are the grade under my name and the names of the color selections when choosing the color for Don, nothing else.
I have the game (JPN), I have the translated romfs, I have the 1.1 English translated update, I have the DLC, and I have the titles folder set up how 7.0 wants it in regards to the locale.txt and for the romfs file(s) itself. Regarding the romfs I have tried both just the romfs file itself and the extracted folders but both types run into this issue. I did have the original Japanese 1.1 update installed prior to this but I uninstalled it via System Settings then installed the English 1.1. I don't want to go grab a cia of the translated version as the entire point of this setup was to have it run from a cartridge. Any ideas as to what could be going wrong?
Edit: Figured out the problem, it has to do with how I did the romfs. I was under the impression you had to have the whole filesystem plus the translated files to get it to work properly which isn't the case at all, you just need the patched, translated files. It turns out the Japanese files were overwriting any of the changes the translated ones made, I just decided to take a shot in the dark and only use the translated files and it worked first try. It's a wonder how Jikuu Daibouken ended up working without any problems though since I did it the exact same way with regards to the romfs.
Sorry for the lack of updates lately everyone. I will try to whip something nice up soon since you've all been so patient!
Not much has changed since the last update on the translation front, which is why I am going to do a few different things to make the JP scripts available to more people (with the hope that more individuals who can help translate have access), mainly adding the patch to Github. I don't think there is any issue hosting just the translated files off of github, but if there are, I will mirror it elsewhere/delete it/etc.
Work has been in the way quite a bit lately, hence why I haven't had much to say, show, or really do lately as far as this project goes. But with the most recent update to Luma3DS, layeredFS support is now stable and legit as all hell (as I am sure some of you know already)! This is one of the other reasons I've uploaded the english files to github, since that's a better place to host layeredFS files in my opinion (based off of some other patches holding their files and pushing updates from there).
The current files on the Github are the most recent from my PC, but there are some issues to be aware of before anyone goes and downloads them:
The code.bin patches are not hosted on github and I don't think it would make sense to host them there either. Luma3DS can load custom code.bin files similar to how it loads layeredFS files and romfs files, so the plan is to offer an optional code.bin patch to allow people to use the cool new english keyboard (which is something we all have @DarkSynopsis for).
I am currently writing this post at 03:54AM and am quite tired, so I could be wrong about this, but I believe Luma3DS prioritizes files from updates over files from layeredFS directories, so currently files that were edited/patched in the official 1.1JP update are overriding the english files (for the system text, story text, and the note names). I don't quite know how we'll be able to get around that. I've looked at Luma3DS's implementation of layeredFS pretty extensively, but I am not too sure right now since again, I am tired and my brain is all fuzzy. I'll update this when I know more or find out more.
Anyways though, hopefully more updates to come soon.

I think that it would be good to try to get in touch with @Aurora Wright , I think that in the worst case she'll indicate who or where can give you information about the Luma 7 functions.

No worries, @Aurora Wright already fixed the issue as of Luma 7.0.3! I should have posted an update to reflect that, my bad!
I've still been busy this week, but the plan is to revise the OP with updated instructions and release an official patch that's compatible with Luma as well as the numerous other methods. One thing I'm bummed about though is that people just using the layeredFS message won't get to see our awesome English banner on the home screen! It's no biggie though since that's a purely cosmetic thing...
I have a problem with the cia patching. Everytime i try to patch the game (even with the name it tells me to name it) it wont patch the translation on it. i also did it with the extracted cia from hourglass9 and it still wont work. is there a solution?

Yes, yes, yes! We currently don't have a translator on the team anymore. Shiduyo, our main translator is working on other stuff right now, so all work on the story, items, quests, etc. has pretty much grinded to a halt unfortunately.
Hmm, could you post an image of your patch directory? I am curious, this has happened a few times with some other users...

I am not a native speaker but I speak some Japanese and have done a number of translations over at /r/translator. If you could give me a list of what needs to be done, I can see what i'm capable of. I also own and play this game regularly in Japanese so I am familiar with the terms.
