Hello my fellow tempers, I’m getting an Xbox 360 E soon and would love to know any tips you have for the console and my questions are, is there any desire for mods on this console and what can all ready be done to it?

Depends on the motherboard - if it's a Winchester board, you can do nothing with it.
If it's a Corona board, then you can RGH it, make it Dual NAND (for XB Live) and / or flash the DVD drive to play burned games.

How can you tell the boards apart? Is it by psu port and or manufacturer date like phats and some slims?

Ok thanks for that any other things I should be aware of??

You will need to buy some stuff if you want to perform the RGH.
Your shopping list goes like this:

1) NAND writer (either a cheap USB NAND writer in case you have a 16MB NAND, or if you have a 4GB system, you can wire up a SD card adapter)
2) CPU Post Fix adapter
3) Glitch Chip
4) (Optional) Dual NAND PCB*
5) (Optional) LTU2 Drive PCB**

*In case you want to use XB Live with a clean slate
**In case you want to flash the DVD drive
