My cat might not make it

Yeah... He's been there since I was 6-7, which is about as long as I can really remember. Yesterday he had to go to the vet for a checkup, because he was biting at himself, most likely because of some kind of some kind of itching. When he came back he suddenly started breathing really heavily. Right now he's on the chair right beside me, he's had antibiotics that were prescribed to him. There's something with his lungs. He's breathing really heavily, and I don't know if he'll make it through tonight. And if he does, he might have to be put down. I'm so scared.

I'm sorry to hear that. There really isn't anything you can do anymore and it would be good to hold the great memories you had with him. He has to level up and move on too, whether it means leaving the body that he has now in order to get a new one, or go to heaven, which ever you believe in. I don't think he would like it that you would be sad about his passing.

It's probably just side effects from the medication. He'll probably be fine.

I'm so so sorry to hear that. I lost two kittens back in February. And I lost my older kitty I'd had for years shortly prior. Some people say to focus on the happy memories, but that might make things worse. (Save those thoughts for later down the line) Just be with him for now and let him know you're there. Try your best to keep as calm as you can, and make sure to give him the medicine. I pray he recovers, and I wish you the best. Poor little guy.

I can't stomach things like this. Some person I recently followed on Twitter post pictures of his grandmother's dying dog, he was attacked by a stray pitbull and suffered brain damage, among other things. Oh man, such depressing images, and I'd probably break down if you provided images of that ilk. My current pet, a dog, is the first one, so I tend to picture how difficult it would be to move on if he went, especially now since he's not young anymore. Maybe it's too late to hope for a miracle, so I just hope things happen for you in a peaceful manner and you come out of what happens, as someone filled with positive thoughts going forward.

I feel you, my dog isn't doing too well either. He's 15 and he's having problems with breathing and water on his heart. He had to go to the er a few days ago and we got him back yesterday, he should be alright for at least a little while.

We had two cats as a kid. The first died when I was six and the second when I was 8. I remember being very sad when they had to be put down. The first one in particular had this habit of sitting on my toy train tracks which caused me to get angry at the cat for sitting in the way of the trains, but I loved the cat all the same and he loved me back. The other cat was the archetypical example of a cat: Only does what it wants and doesn't care about you or anyone around you, but I loved him all the same. According to my parents the first cat was 18 years old when they had to be put down and the other 16 years old.

Nowadays we have a bird. I love him with all I have and I'd be really upset when he dies. He loves it when people are in the house. It causes him to start chirping. The more the merrier. Unfortunately, he also loves doing it during TV programs and movies, but eh... w/e. I just love him. Except for his name, Elvis, which I'd like to state is yes a reference and it was chosen by my parents.

I lost 4 cats this winter. I've lived with cats my whole life(I currently have 20 or so in my garden). I really don't know what to say, but I just wish for the best. I know how this feels.

F
I know how it feels.
Thankfully, my sis saved my cat from dying.
But if your cat can't make it, don't feel bad. You did alot to him and he will be thankful.

Why the hell are there so many people liked this? Are you even enjoying it?

Tc, I had my childhood house in mountains, I had 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 turtles and countless living chickens with kid chickens lol, my cat never had any illness and we never had to bring it to vet: we feed our cat just once per day, then he's like a MASTER OF ASSASSINS Altair, every night he hunted down mercilessly those parasite mice :D

My mice hunter was agile, strong, lethal, healthy to the end, tc probably ur cat has spent whole his life iniside home and never did cardio right?

@leon315 - In my case the like meant support and hoping the best for his/her cat. Not that I want to see the cat die. I assume most others liked it for the same reason. It's one of those cases where the like button is a bit of a misnomer.
