For Me.
I Added Fire Emblem The Binding Blade(Translation) To the Database.
But when i tried to boot the game through GBA NSO
it wont even open up on GBA NSO
what it does is it would try to open but then instantly goes back to the GBA NSO menu
No screens just instantly goes back to the NSO Menu

Your issue is because you are using a shitty hack/translation. I was going to ignore it, as I have a policy of not to support helping solve issues with hacks unless they are a blatant general CaVE issue. But you confused me by responding to my unrelated exchange, making me think you were the other person.

Anyway, since the effort is now already made to look into it... To be more precise, I'm 99% certain that the FE:TBB ROM that you have is shit because it has an extra 316 bytes of garbage (release group or the translation devs are morons?) at the end of the file. If you remove those bytes, it will boot.

In general... This is the extent of what I will say for helping with hack/translation compatibility. You will likely often need some tool programs to fix the roms in various ways. Fixing header ID's, internal checksum calculations, and invalid ROM sizes to name a few. Figure that out on your own.

Ok and thank you. I'll look into it
But it's all good though
It make senses that it's prob a header issue or extra bytes
I'll just find a different one and try that out
Or remove the extra bytes

Watching an Austin John Plays video regarding the emulator. It looks like local multiplayer for stuff like trading Pokemon is possible, though the examples he references involve replacing an existing game with another one, not adding to the database. That's the first half of the video, after which John speculates how this may happen, if it will happen, etc.

Suffice to say, it looks like the only thing the emulators don't have is RTC.

Yea. Welcome to last week. This is known already. Just as you say, we dont have to do stupid crap like replacing the existing games. In fact, the only reason CaVE took the time it did to come out of beta was because I was trying to make sure that Local Multiplayer was as well supported as possible.

For Pokemon games and trading, all you have to do is input the Code value of the other Pokemon games under "Compatible Titles".

I don't like gaming YouTubers, so I'll no watch, but the barrier for official pokemon support is not RTC, this Nintendo can produce easily. The barrier is the rewind function and the savestate function. Back on 3DS era, every game was self-contained, so the official pokemon roms had those functions removed. Now let's see how Nintendo will handle this on NSO era (this assuming that they will release pokemon mainline games, they never say they will).

As for us, CaVE got us covered. All gen 1 to 3 pokemon games do work, many romhacks also work, including some tricky ones like Polished Crystal on 60 FPS, that runs on the edge of the GBC specs.

CaVE has been updated to v1.4.5.3. It's a minor, bug fix type of update so its not absolutely important to download. But whats changed is, now if you want to import hacked games in addition to the unhacked version or other hacks of the same game, CaVE will now let you (with a Yes/No popup and warning) instead of just saying "the game already exists".

This change is more to save on some headaches in the long run, rather than me caring about hacks. I know people are going to use them, so if I don't address some of the hack issues like this, I'll just get people asking for help over and over.

Are there any ways to remap the buttons? I'd like GBA and SNES' L and R buttons mapped to Switch's ZL and ZR (instead of L and R). And, well, everything N64 is bad.

I know I can remap them on OS level, but that's more of a workaround than a proper solution.

Nope that's the official method, we've just got to deal with it.

I was testing local multiplayer for GBA NSO, over online so LAN using ldn_mitm. I found that using official LAN-Play servers that had a ping of about 80 it was borderline unplayable and super stuttery. After that, I got my friend who I trying to play with and lives about 15 km away to set up their own server, which had much less stutter, but it wasn't quite there until they connected their computer through ethernet then 90% of all the stutters went away making it very playable although not perfect. It makes sense because about the stuttering because originally there was basically no latency with the link cable and it's hard to replicate such a low amount of latency over the internet.

I'll have to try this again with a third and fourth friend nearby using the server to see how much it adds to the stutter because I'd imagine it would be harder for us to stay in sync.

I'm going to stop announcing minor version ticks... Sick of this inquiry. I don't know why its so hard for people to grasp, considering I've seen others do it... but... v1.4.5.3 is in the v1.4.5.0 rar. I use the same link for minor version changes.

EDIT:

Just changed the link and the text on the site. I'll no longer be including the most minor revision number that I tick only for minor quick bug fixes.

Meaning the rar is now "CaVE Database Manager - v1.4.5.rar".

I've been working on getting a few of my old favorites on my switch, I've got most everything working at this point except for Genesis. For whatever reason whenever I try to launch from inside NSOGen it just freezes. Only one of of 15 launches. Got the latest update for Cave, NSOGen and rebuilt the database from scratch after everything was updated and I'm still stuck.
Update: Apparently all my roms are bad? They work on everything else lol, oh well it's fixed.

Hi everyone! I ran into an issue, maybe this is related?

I have my Switch divided in emuNAND and sysNAND, using the latter for online playing and stuff.
I installed the N64 NSO on the emu a while ago and used CaVE DBM cause I didn't have the expansion pack.

I acquired the expansion, installed the N64 NSO on my sysNAND (which automatically gets into the SD card) and turns out, I can't get it to run (always gives "Unable to start software, Return to HOME Menu and try again").

This only happens on the N64 NSO - GB and GBA NSOs work perfectly fine on sysNAND.
Could this have to do with CaVE DBM?

Any help would be really appreciated <3

If you are not launching atmosphere in the sys, no, is not related.

I want to exchange and play Pokémon between the Red and Blue versions. Is there any way?

Yes. And no. Depends on exactly what you want to do, and your resources available.

If you play one a bit then you can trade with SOMEONE ELSE, using Local Multiplayer. But not yourself.

If your goal is to import a save file from outside NSO. It's probably technically possible, but I have not looked into it yet, thus I dont know if I need to make a save converter tool, and naturally have no guide.

I was going to look into it, trying to dig up my minish cap save to mess with. But seems I never dumped the save from my cart. So... ill have to find something else and get around to it.

I can report it is easy to import a save file on GBA games for NSO, simply dump the save using checkpoint, put your save in the right directory of the game with catridge.sram and rename your save to it and replace catridge.sram, then reimport your save using Checkpoint. This worked with mGBA saves.
