When the Switch was released, Nintendo did something new - they allowed you to unlink a Nintendo Account from an user profile. This was showing progress - the 3DS wouldn't let you unlink a NNID without formatting the console, the Wii U wouldn't let you unlink a NNID without deleting the user and the Switch would remove these restrictions once and for all.
But, then a certain HorizonOS version came (like 4 or 5?) and then the unlinking option was gone entirely, changing back to the Wii U's system.
Why? What was Nintendo's reason to do this? I have no clue why would they suddenly limit it.
